Not heard about this anywhere else.

If you live in an EU country you can now get refunds on App Store games (for up to two weeks)

You wanna play a game? DO YOU?

I did. So I downloaded Phases.

DO YOU WANT TO PLAY IT TOO?

No? FUCK OUTTA HERE.

Yes? HERE IS A LINK:

https://appsto.re/gb/Vecz2.i

Now, here's the bet. If anyone - ANYONE - can get to phase zero - LIKE ME - and prove it by a picture or something then I will send you a crisp five pound note in the post.

Why? Because it's fucking maddening and I hate it. It's shit. Shit. And I'm convinced that the last level cannot be completed.

I'm not sure the last three numbers on the back of my card will be much use without the rest of the numbers on the front.

EA Will Charge For Gas In Need For Speed: No Limits As Part Of Its Ongoing Effort To Make Games As Mundane And Annoying As Real Life

This is not a surprise if you've paid attention to any EA mobile game from the last two years. Real Racing 3 and Dungeon Keeper are essentially broken unless you pay.

It's also not entirely true, because you get fuel for free (basically it's the wait or pay model that's used all over the place).

Still, it's amusing in a game called No Limits, I suppose :)

They are broken if you pay as well. I'm sure there was an eurogamer article about dungeon keeper, where even if you pay £10 the money is used up in seconds to be back exactly where you started.

Playing a game where you're never quite sure if you're not being good enough, or that you've reached an artificial ceiling in order to squeeze money out of you doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Agreed, it's why I've drifted back to portables like the Vita and 3DS and now just play the cream of iOS (80 days at the minute).

Hilariously, EA gave me the full console need for speed for my vita for free about a month ago.

There is a lot of good stuff on iOS, but it gets drowned out by the pay-to-win dross.

DISAGREE. Time is generally not used as a discrete measurement.

You wouldn't say "I'm going to the shops, I'll be fewer than ten minutes". You're saying less than this defined block of time, not fewer than this amount of discrete blocks of time.

It's a grey area and definitely worthy of discussion. While I would agree with something like minutes or seconds, you always talk about days in discrete blocks - you wouldn't say, "I went round the world in 37.43 days." So fewer is valid here, IMO.

I would personally use "under 40 days" in order to sidestep the whole issue.

I was going to make a meme that said something like...

"Sometimes, in real life, when people say things, they don't say them right. I don't tend to worry about it much.

On the internet I'll skin a muthafucker alive."

Then I decided that I don't know how. Or couldn't give a toss. One or t'other.

It's probably been done before though.

In less words. Too.

Why not use "under" instead of "less" and "fewer" all the time?

Like I said, it's a grey area. I can see both sides of the argument for measurements of time.

Post subject:  Re: iOS gaming thread

However, in the instance of this game, fewer is correct if you can only complete the game in discrete days, rather than fractions of days.

I don't want to read 40 pages.

What is highly recommended with no IAPs?
