Following discussion in the iPhone thread, we iOS users think we need a "software" thread that covers iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad equally. The older threads can then be more about hardware and stuff. Sound reasonable? I'm going to go one further, and make two threads: one for games and one for apps. This is the gaming thread. Beex master partial list of Game Center usernames (Where username is different, the first one is the Beex name and the second the Game Center tag. Where it's the same I've just listed it once.) If you haven't bought Phoenix Wright yet then please do. In fact I'll even consider gifting it to you. I bought it on the DS and it's a damn fine conversion with great humour. I wish they'd make the sequels for iOS. |

I would say that if you haven't played them since they came out you'll remember the overall arc of the story, but not have enough recall to be bored waiting for a certain bit to come up so you can present the evidence. It's like playing them again for the first time. |

yeah Goo's out I think. According to LewieP's twitterings. Cave recently had a 50% thing going on. Two good games but that Bug Panic thing isn't so good. My hot tips for goodness; Axe In Face Sand Slides (although it's all dirty with adverts now, the fucking thing - I'm sure I paid for it as well back when it first showed up) Slingo Supreme PvZ The Creeps (almost flawless tower defence game, slightly ruined by tilt-controls for your super powers). |

Wanna build an "app mini-review database"? Fields of app name, platform, version, reviewer name, review. Reviews capped at tweet length or slightly longer. Searchable by app name and displays opinions of multiple beexers when viewing an app (with a footnoted version number to point out stale reviews). This above para from the Doc got me excited. So you've got constant updates because a game will scroll into a news feed every time someone adds a score to it, plus you can then access the original 'game/app' with all scores/reviews at the bottom. |

1. Exciting! 2. Go go Grim... 3. Interestingly there is a iPhone/iPod version of World of Goo just released, but they've also made the iPad version universal so it works on the iPhone now too. Neato. 4. iPad (only) game of the moment (based on that thread I had yesterday is Viking Lords Which is an excellent, polished clone of an excellent board game. Looks far nicer than the screenshots suggest too. Basically, it's a war game where you have a bunch of units split into the left, middle and right sections of the board. You draw cards that let you activate units and play one each turn. So not only is there strategy of a normal battle game, but also when you use powerful cards (Activate 2 units in each region | activate all green units) and when you use rubbish ones (activate 2 in the left channel.) Recommended. |

2^8 - 1 rather than 2^8? Some back end reason for that, or you just want to wind up math nerds? But yeah, the smaller the better. |

We think that 140 is a little too small, and 255 is the next most likely number, and is fractionally more efficient for the SQL server.
