I have done this again, just in case.

Still no dice. :(

I've had that happen as well , it seems to be confused and trying to download it anyway - sometimes 'pressing it' will make it start downloading again , and other times checking for updates will kick it off again but the only way I've always had it work is to connect it back to the PC.

FYI if an app is downloading and you have the little download bar , pressing the app pauses the download , pressing it again resumes

If Apple were to be investing these extra profits in making the App Store better, or in a version of the abysmal iTunes that was actually remotely fit for purpose for anyone with more than 50 apps, that'd be one thing. But all they're actually doing is opportunistically and cynically gouging a captive market, and screwing over every developer with a UK App Store presence. Nice one, geniuses. You truly are the new Nintendo, in every way.

Screw you.

My iTouch does crap like this all the time, a couple of weeks ago it had a proper wobbly when I tried to update about 9 apps at once, I had to power it off and on, try another update, and then again, for it to finally come right.

This 'Apple stuff just works' mantra is bollocks, doubly so for iTunes.

I guess that must be why most of the devs I know are actually happy with the UK price-rise, saying things like "finally, I'll actually make as much money from a UK sale as I do in the US". As for the prices in general, it seems the vast majority of users couldn't really give two shits.

I'm asking 20,000 people that question tomorrow. Remind me next week and I'll share the answers.

It's pretty fun, isn't it? I still can't really get my head around it all that much, though - especially the scoring system. I appear to be in the top 10 on a couple of levels and I have absolutely no idea why.

Scoring's all about the multiplier, which goes up when you hit things and drops when you use extra mirrors. I really like Deflex, despite it being a bit blurry, and despite my brain not being able to figure out which sodding mirror to drop far too often.

I have been enjoying Quak despite the controls being abit annoying compared to a proper joystick.

First game I have actually purchased in 2.5 years of iThing ownership.

Having played Tiny Tower a few weeks back I can only conclude it is awful.

Terrible timesink of a game that makes you its bitch by forcing you to grind out results.

The cutesy "retro" graphics are nothing like proper retro graphics and look terribly 2005. It's all been done before.

Tiny Tower plays like a dumbed down version of Sim Tower and is aimed at the young and the stupid. Avoid.

Score: 232 Bananas.

Magnetic billiards is out and free at the moment and although it takes a few gets for it to 'click' its very good

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/magnetic ... 52950?mt=8

The negative things so far -
The in game shop doesn't work yet
I've had one level start where I could not make a valid first shot (there's a random element to what balls are what colour) , and although I can understand how to S level 9 (build up the small shots and make the atomic symbol) I cant see a way to do it

For a while there I had S classes on everything else and only a B on 9

You're better off going for Trapezoid because it gives a better combo. Atomic is really good to go for early on (more relevant to tables with many more balls) because it increases your tariff a fair bit which will benefit you for the rest of the table.

Hopefully apple will sort out the purchases soon so people can access the second page of tables. And me and Ste can earn a living.

I think in my high score I got a line instead for that one (total 7690) , and I'll be buying the other tables as soon as they are available.

9 just threw me because I sailed past the S on every other level fairly easily , but could not get close to it.

On most of the levels now i'm way beyond that - I guess part of it is striking the balance between being able to get those big scores and getting the 'pass' , total score right now is 120760 which has me 14th overall (3,225 behind the player in 13th which happens to be you).

I hope more people pick it up (and grab the extra tables)

I'm writing a top-down racers piece shortly. Would hugely appreciate recommendations regarding any games people enjoy in that genre (such as LilRacerz, Vs Racing and Reckless Racing).

I downloaded Maple Thief, but the tiny text pissed me off, and the way they've hard-coded the interface orientation (the wrong way) infuriated me enough to delete it. Fuck that shit.

Trying Drawrace now.

It's not clicking for me, either. It just seems a bit too fiddly, and not actually rewarding in the slightest.

Still, it was free.

Is anyone here playing Zookeeper on iOS? If so, have you reached the story bit in the standard mode? Each time that happens to me, the final screen comes up with the score and then the game doesn't record said score. Is this happening to anyone else?

The game ends after the story bit, but it has been recording the score here at least. I can't remember the DS version doing this, but I might just not have got that far.

On Zookeeper, the dev's confirmed to me that 1.0.2 does indeed have a bug where the score is not recorded if you complete level 15. 1.0.3 is in review.

Oh! I was just thinking about that recently, and how it would work well on iOS.

Airport Mania: Non-Stop Flights is currently free. Haven't played it yet but the original Airport Mania is a fun casual/time-management game; from what I've read this one is similar but it's more like an endless mode, whereas the original has various levels to play through.

Also, anyone played Retro Pinball yet? It's basically an iOS port of Epic Pinball, with 3 tables (Super Android, Crash and Burn, and Pangaea). Not sure how it is on iPhone, but it plays very nicely indeed on iPad. My only quibbles are that the plunger control isn't great (you'd expect it to let you drag-and-release to control it, but instead you hold your finger down and wait until the plunger gets to where you want, then release -- that's how it worked in the original verison IIRC but it would've been nice if they'd updated it) and there's no way to tilt/nudge. Otherwise, it's pretty good and definitely worth getting hold of at its current price (0p).

Your stupid face is stupid and I hate you.

With Dungeon Raid and Tiny Tower my battery already only lasts a few hours.
