Fucking hell, this series got good. I was with Grim... up until episode 4 or so. We then gave it a break until last night - then watched the other 12 episodes back to back over two evenings. It's really got back to where it was before - absolutely brilliant.

Hmm.

HMM.

I saw up to episode five and they were all pretty dire.

Are you sure?

Abso fucking lutely.

We quit at 5 - the one with the fake woman Marshall thing. we got back into it at ep 6 last night and motored through the rest. Just brilliant.

I wasn't impressed with a lot of the latter half of series 7. but post-episode 5 in series 8, it's got back to its heyday.

Nah. But they picked up again. Far too much shrieking Robin and Lilly in general. She's not a good character.

The shrieking Robin was all to do with Patrice, which worked well, and Lily has been a fantastic repressed lesbian this series.

Ask your mum, Dave.

I went to the pub with Kissyfur a few weeks ago and he wouldn't suit up. It's reasonable to ignore his opinion.

No, Chris, shrieking is never good. Ever.

Robin is rapidly becoming Ross Geller

We've been away from home for a month so just watched the final four episodes in a binge.

Oh man. I'm so sad now.

Just watched the end of this. Was totally not expecting all of the final two-parter. Good work.

The last series, bar a couple of duffers, is actually one of the best of all the series. Massive improvement over the prior one.

It's the girl with the yellow umbrella who was his previous girlfriend's flatmate.

Have you been paying no attention at all?

Yes. Those points don't dispute that.

Wasn't Beccy2 from Roseanne the one with the yellow umbrella?

I have the last episode of season 9 ready to watch on the train home.

I think I have managed to to watch this series in the best way. I watched all of season 1, skipped seasons 2-8 and have just watched season 9. :D

I hated the first few episodes of S9 so I just read about the end on Wikipedia.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
So he's going after Robin, and Barney's shit. Good work, HIMYM.

If you watch it, it's actually really well done. I was surprised how well the second half of s9 worked, given how drawn out the last few seasons have been.

I bet it was more drawn out than the Wikipedia entry.

I've really enjoyed season 9 so far, but I expect that is partly due to all the flashbacks being new content to me ;)

The flashbacks were largely actual new content, with them pretending to be young.

The ending actually worked really well.

Also, the mother was well hot and a really cool character.

And they totally didn't ruin Barney.

We're still part way through the final series.

We've been part way thought for quite some time though, it's been about 4 months since we last watched an episode. Interest really dwindled quickly, hard to muster the enthusiasm to even turn on the HTPC. I suspect we'll probably watch it in a similar slightly resigned 'may as well get this over with' fashion just like we did with the last series of Dexter (which was super-shit).
