Good luck! I had a shower leak a few months ago too but I was lucky in the only 'damage' being some discolouration, peeled off wallpaper and a bit of a drip coming down the wall. I still haven't painted over it though obviously. |

Yes, fortunately when the flat upstairs from us leaked there was no ceiling damage, just some paintwork to splash on and kickboards needing replacing. |

Cut lengths of 4"x2" and bang them vertically into the web at 400mm intervals (that's 400mm centre to centre on the wood). The "web" is the gap between the two horizontal sections of the steel. Get some angle bead for the edges where the plaster board meets, it'll make finishing more stable. If you need to stick any battening to the underside, then get yourself some CT1 adhesive. |

Get some packers as well, they're small plastic fillets of various thicknesses. They'll help you get a level/true surface to attach the plasterboard. Just glue them to the wood to mask any variations in depth and remember where they are when you come to screw the plasterboard on. Wear gloves when working with plasterboard screws as they're very sharp and also give you nasty metal splinters. |
