Like most of Fresh Meat's best bits, it relied on allowing the character's bonhomie to crack and show the insecurity underneath. In fact the whole show is a study in insecurity -- with six characters all papering over their deepest fears in different ways and with different levels of success. The finale (they all graduated) was rather sad in an end-of-the-road way, especially as you cannot help but think back to your own university experiences. It really is a great show that built to a fantastic last season, I can't say enough good things about it. It's as good as Peep Show for my money. |

Aaaaaand, I hope you're all watching The A Word on the Beeb. Christopher Eccleston's one-liners (to his son, 'You'll always be in the medals at the twat Olympics,') are beautifully delivered, and the lad who plays Joe is brilliant. |

Heh. Might have to give that a go. The show that is, not puppy-play. BBC Four did another 'Hidden Killers' last night - this time round it was the 1950s. Unlike the Tudor one there were no water sequences with interesting camera angles but it was an enjoyable look at the dangers of domestic life in a different period nonetheless. |

Finished 'Peaky Blinders' last night. Enjoyed it immensely, and some gripping moments, especially the tension in the railway train scene. Didn't feel as well-paced as the previous seasons but the main cast, the photography, and the soundtrack were as brilliant as ever. |

We just watched series 2 (started to watch 3, then realised we'd missed a series), and didn't find it as good as series 1. In particular it relied too much on sweaty men having awful sex with unwilling ladies to show us their character instead of relying on good writing. |

Been watching Man Down with Greg Davis (the head of 6th form in the Inbetweeners) Pretty funny show and has Rick Mayall playing the lead characters rather mental Dad for the 1st season. Think is was more or less one of the last things he did before he died

I ended up watching it, it was a bid odd. most of the people they featured where doing it as an extension of S&M. Their "dog" outfits where all leather etc The main guy they focused on had spent thousands on a dog outfit and won some Mr Dog contest in the UK and went off to contest in Mr EU Dog. His story was quite sad, he had a girlfriend who he split up with in order to get more into his dog lifestyle but she was always there for him and hoping he would give it up. He also had this rather creepy guy who was his "handler" you where never sure if these two where in a relationship and the handler was very anti the ex girlfriend. |

 As for the Cox, pieces about Catalonian human tower competitions or a Nepalese boy's first honey gathering trip or free diving grannies aren't in themselves uninteresting, but the segments were too long and focussed too much on the human interest for a show about science. If I wanted to watch them, and they were very well shot and structured, I'd watch them on a programme with 'isn't humanity endlessly fascinating' as its focus. |

We watched the five minute "Meet The Robots"* thing off the iPlayer, and the house robots looks massive now. Really looking forward to watching it. it can't be all smashy fighty, as you need the build up and the pit area interviews and that. *Robert DeNiro's finest role. |

New BBC 3 comedy called Fleabag is very good. It's a bit like Girls, but it's British and hence lower budget so there's only one girl. (I haven't actually seen Girls, but I really wanted to make that joke.) Also, the "explicit content warning" iPlayer will throw up is not for nothing, just FYI.
