It's because they are both tall. All tall people are in some weird club of tall people. They have a code.

Replace Tall with "Rich"

Is what someone said to Mrs Gaywood Snr.

Fresh Meat is back, and it's better than ever. I hardly ever hear anyone talk about it, but it's a cracking wee show.

Finished S4 last night. The whole of the last season was notably darker in tone than previous ones, and it was better for it. It delivered possibly the best scene of the show; the kids attempt to convince a cynical 18 year old that he should go to University too, expecting to win him over with shallow "yeah but it's loads of fun," only to have him turn around and point out the job market for graduates has never been worse, graduates are accruing record amounts of debt, and none of them want a career path that's anything to do with their degrees anyway. Like most of Fresh Meat's best bits, it relied on allowing the character's bonhomie to crack and show the insecurity underneath. In fact the whole show is a study in insecurity -- with six characters all papering over their deepest fears in different ways and with different levels of success.

The finale (they all graduated) was rather sad in an end-of-the-road way, especially as you cannot help but think back to your own university experiences.

It really is a great show that built to a fantastic last season, I can't say enough good things about it. It's as good as Peep Show for my money.

Indeed, it was excellent, and I'll miss it, but in the meantime ....... the new series of Plebs has begun. How I missed Grumio, and how pleased I am to see his return.

Aaaaaand, I hope you're all watching The A Word on the Beeb. Christopher Eccleston's one-liners (to his son, 'You'll always be in the medals at the twat Olympics,') are beautifully delivered, and the lad who plays Joe is brilliant.

'No such thing as the news'. It's 'No such thing as a fish', but with pictures.

Started catching up on 'Peaky Blinders'. Need to find time to watch series two of the 'Hollow Crown'.

Heh. Might have to give that a go. The show that is, not puppy-play.

BBC Four did another 'Hidden Killers' last night - this time round it was the 1950s. Unlike the Tudor one there were no water sequences with interesting camera angles but it was an enjoyable look at the dangers of domestic life in a different period nonetheless.

Finished 'Peaky Blinders' last night. Enjoyed it immensely, and some gripping moments, especially the tension in the railway train scene. Didn't feel as well-paced as the previous seasons but the main cast, the photography, and the soundtrack were as brilliant as ever.

The Tunnel - it's a remake of The Bridge. But in English. And involving The Tunnel, rather than The Bridge. It's a pretty good whodunnit and cast well. Worth a watch.

We just watched series 2 (started to watch 3, then realised we'd missed a series), and didn't find it as good as series 1. In particular it relied too much on sweaty men having awful sex with unwilling ladies to show us their character instead of relying on good writing.

Where can one find this? iPlayer, Netflix, Uncle Eddie's Box of Torrents?

Uncle Eddy then. Marvellous. We love the Bridge, and have watched the original two (three?) series.

Been watching Man Down with Greg Davis (the head of 6th form in the Inbetweeners)

Pretty funny show and has Rick Mayall playing the lead characters rather mental Dad for the 1st season.

Think is was more or less one of the last things he did before he died :(

I ended up watching it, it was a bid odd. most of the people they featured where doing it as an extension of S&M. Their "dog" outfits where all leather etc

The main guy they focused on had spent thousands on a dog outfit and won some Mr Dog contest in the UK and went off to contest in Mr EU Dog.

His story was quite sad, he had a girlfriend who he split up with in order to get more into his dog lifestyle but she was always there for him and hoping he would give it up. He also had this rather creepy guy who was his "handler" you where never sure if these two where in a relationship and the handler was very anti the ex girlfriend.

The Young Ones is a brilliant show. I re-watched them earlier on in the year and spotted the extra house mate. I thought that some of the appearances were quite freaky.

Started to watch the new Brian Cox thing last night but got bored and turned off after half an hour. Visually stunning, but lacking in the sciency stuff I came for. At least 'Monkey Cage' is back on the wireless.

Damn, I read a review of this saying it was actually quite hard to follow and understand, so was looking forward to learning new stuff. From what you've said it won't be :(

I'll still probably end up watching it, as I do like Prof Cox.

I read that in a cross between Brian Cox and Philomena Cunk's voices.. Well done.

:hat:

As for the Cox, pieces about Catalonian human tower competitions or a Nepalese boy's first honey gathering trip or free diving grannies aren't in themselves uninteresting, but the segments were too long and focussed too much on the human interest for a show about science. If I wanted to watch them, and they were very well shot and structured, I'd watch them on a programme with 'isn't humanity endlessly fascinating' as its focus.

Full Steam Ahead, BBC2.

Amiable steam-porn-cum-social-history that whilst a little simple and 'How we used to live'-esque passes the time and makes good use of heritage sites and the Beamish living history museum. No pieman, alas.

We watched the five minute "Meet The Robots"* thing off the iPlayer, and the house robots looks massive now. Really looking forward to watching it. it can't be all smashy fighty, as you need the build up and the pit area interviews and that.

New BBC 3 comedy called Fleabag is very good. It's a bit like Girls, but it's British and hence lower budget so there's only one girl. (I haven't actually seen Girls, but I really wanted to make that joke.)

Also, the "explicit content warning" iPlayer will throw up is not for nothing, just FYI.

Here's a random review culled from Google in case you want to know more: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-07- ... estruction
