'Ian Hislop's Olden Days' is a fun look at how we've mined history and myth for our own purposes throughout the ages. Charming and informative.

Oh, I watched this yesterday and thought if you, Kern! Mostly because of the re-enactment montage at the beginning.

I enjoyed the two episodes I watched: lighthearted and interesting :)

Didn't spot anyone I know, though I think I recognised one or two of the groups shown.

Did anyone see the pilot for 'Game Face' last night? It's a standard sitcom, and doubtless available on 4OD.

Nothing particularly original about it, but it had me laughing out loud on several occasions, and I thought that it was brilliant. The rant at the book club was perfect.

Channel 4 have has some excellent standard sitcoms. Black Books and Father Ted to name but two.

Not Bill Baily. I wouldn't take him anywhere.

BBC2 are showing a German drama series about WW2 'Our Mothers, Our Fathers' on Saturday. Might be interesting to see a German view of their history.

Agreed. Smirked once or twice but that was about it.

If you're going to bring back a well-loved sketch show, make sure that A) You bring a few new ideas to the table or, failing that, B) You make sure it's damn funny.

This achieved neither of those and seemed utterly pointless.

First series was excellent and this 2nd-series prequel episode was also pretty great IMO.

Watched a bit of S1 and didn't like it.

Half way through the first ep of The Strain at the mo, and am not entirely convinced.

...but watch it.

/Oh and Neil will be played by the splendid Toby Jones

A while back there was a good pilot for a cop show called Babylon. Follows all levels of the police in a comedy/drama way. Loads of familiar faces.

Anyway, I see it is starting as a full series soon! Yeah!

Wanted to like Babylon but it didn't quite do it for me. I felt it needed to lean either slightly further towards comedy or drama.

Great cast though.

Absolutely loved the second series of 'Peaky Blinders', but as with the first I felt a little irritated by the ending. Dam it, I want Thomas Selby to be in control of the situation.

Still remains one of the best shows of recent times, with great direction, brilliant characters, and a soundtrack of awesome.

Only connect is great, they used to use Greek letters as the round question options and people complained that it was too intellectual, so they changed it to hieroglyphics :D

Quiz show presented by Mrs David Mitchell.

Teams have to find the link between four items/clues/people/other things. Very addictive, but also dam tricky.

A few users have set up playlists, but IIRC most of series 4 is missing, but if you find a list with loads of eps in then it's likely the full run.

The current series is entirely on iPlayer.

After a while you'll find it clicks, as it's more about lateral thinking than general knowledge a lot of the time.

I thought it was excellent, the best black mirror so far. Brooker seems to have exorcised his humorous language which always felt jarring. Now he has something which is funny because it's so absurd, not because people are saying rude words. The end was mind bendingly brutal. Merry Christmas!
