Argh I just clicked on that spoiler because for the first time in ages I am up to date and thought I could join in with the chat. Forgot that some of you would be watching it as it broadcasts in America. I stopped reading after the second line but that, and the comments about that post make me feel like I know what's going to happen. I'm an idiot.

At least it isn't as bad as when Dexter got spoiled for me. The series which ended with the huge shock, about a year before I watched it becuase I was waiting for DVD. I had commented on a friends facebook status which was about something completely irrelevant, like the weather that day or something. Then, out of nowhere, someone else commented on saying the Dexter spoiler, in the style of "oh yeah the weather today, it's almost as bad as how I felt when I discovered Jesus dies at the end of the bible." I was like.....WTF?! Why would you do that?! No one was talking about that and now you've spoiled it for me! I told my girlfriend it had been spoiled for me but obviously didn't spoil it for her. When we watched the episode in question, she was sitting staring open mouthed at the tv in shock and I was sitting back, arms crossed, in a bit of a grump.

Rick standing there and not getting shot.
Myfanwy not killing Cristmas Dr. who whe she had the chance.
Sexy farmer's daughter not killing Merv when she had the chance
Myfanwy not explaining anything to blonde woman. She never solves anything by saying "guess what, here's what happened during all the times you weren't on screen" to the other characters. By now blond lady should know Christmas Dr. who, Merv and co are baddies who hurt her friends but no, Myfanwy just has to stand there like a cunt, then mope off. Has she even told Rick's posse she knows blonde girl?
Also why is blonde woman oblivious to how evil Christmas Doctor Who really is...?

It's bollocks. Stupid, crappy bollocks. Up there with the demise of the Vice President in The Event. Up there with Prometheus.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Rick just standing there? He was moving and shooting like a SWAT assassin. Shotgun guy was a terrible shot though.
Ninja gal? She's a terrible ninja, but she was interrupted by the blonde un.
Farmers daughter? It's just typical cop drama stuff that one. Not everyone is a crazed murdering machine though and farmers daughter has mostly remained a bit of a pacifist throughout.
Insofar as the rest is concerned, there's no reason why ninja gal would tell Rick's group that she knows blonde un or visa versa. She's doesn't know that they know each other. There's no reason whatsoever that blonde un should know that the gov has her friends or had hurt them.
As to why ninja gal would leave the blonde un with the gov, well, maybe she thought that leaving she with the gov surrounded by a load of incriminating evidence might make blonde un change her mind and leave of her own free will. She must know that if she forces her to leave she'll resent her forever.

Anyway, load of rubbish that it's a load of rubbish. Quite the opposite: awesome in fact. As ever.

Yeah, thought the last episode was excellent. Some of the so-called rubbish bits were great, and utter nonsense to say it was rubbish.

Really enjoyed it all, and looking forward to the second half of the season.

All right then. How about: it was entertaining enough, but it was rather a let-down. And the first point in the rubbish box is still a very valid one.

For two seasons people have been putting bullets into the heads of zombies from distances an ICBM would find challenging. But when humans are shooting at other humans they suddenly can't hit a barn door? It's not just the part where the shotgun guy doesn't shoot Rick - the whole of his gang are stood out in the open and don't even get hit by a stray? That made me most sneery.

People don't like shooting people. it's a hard thing to do. Zombies are not people, so that is OK. The people doing the killing outside the town have done it before, I think most of those inside have only shot at zombies before

A little <handwave> explanation, but I'm happy to think it is good as it's been an excellent show

I agree to a point.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The accuracy of people in the show is ridiculous. The point in the last episode where Carl is taking the zombies down with head shots with his awesome silenced pistol, whilst barely even looking at them; that was a bit silly.

I think the combination of movement, cover and smoke grenades were enough to easily explain away why they didn't get shot (and note, one of the 'good guys' was killed, and several of the 'bad guys' were killed too).

Aside from that, I still thought it was ace. A slight cop-out that Andrea didn't see them, but her realisation when Darryl was revealed made up for it.

And I think it is very sensible that she likes the Governor. The only reason we know (or think) he's a bad guy is what he did to the National Guard, and how he treated Glenn/Maggie. She wouldn't know any of that. What he has shown her is he can put together a community and is trying to find a cure, because he loves his daughter. I thought it was superb that when Michonne kills the daughter, all I felt for the Governor was sympathy, despite all he's done.

This show is just good enough to make me keep watching but is annoying enough that I resent it. Or as it's otherwise known, the Dexter Zone.

I've just watched S03E04 again, and, well...

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I'm fairly sure Lori isn't dead. Sorry.

FACT: We don't see Carl shoot her
FACT: Farm girl practised doing C-sections on a Zombie
FACT: The body was gone
FACT: While the sitting zombie that Rick found did have dark hair in his mouth, he wasn't bloated enough to have eaten all of her
FACT: Rick sees the bullet on the floor, but there was no blood near it
FACT: The infirmary is near Block C where she "died" (Carl says so in an earlier episode)

It's a great show but I find the lack of regard for self preservation against the biters infuriating and unrealistic. Despite the core characters having plenty of experience of others being bitten, being attacked and fighting off zombs in desparate situations they waltz about without any protective clothing when out on missions or travelling. A couple of eps ago Michonne was sat waiting in a car with the window wound down and her bare arm out the window tapping in the roof, bored, or something. The zombs have a tenancy to shuffle up on you pretty quietly. One little nibble and it's game over.

Regardless of the weather, I'd wear a leather jacket or fashion some kind of flexible armour from duct tape and plastic and wear it most of the time and certainly on the parts where zooms normally aim their teeth: neck, shoulder, forearms, hands, legs. It's just not worth taking the risk. Severed heads can still gnash at your ankles in the long grass. Walkers could fall out of windows onto you. Don't assume walkers slumped against the walls or on the floor are neutralised; take a second out of your day to slip a knife into their eye sockets or stove in their heads just to make sure.

Also, I'd carry a lot more weapons. Why carry one small knife which can be dragged out of your hand while fighting, leaving you defenceless, when five will fit into your belt or your boot? Carry a butcher's knife or machete on you at all times. Create a utility belt with knives and useful tools in it that can help get you out of a sticky situation when cornered. Put spares everywhere. Reinforce the widows and doors of the vehicles. Build platforms and walk ways. Take to the trees. Build a castle. With a little bit of creative thinking, you could cobble together some very efficient killing machines that can hold zombs at bay while you snip their heads off. Dig ditches. Set traps. They're not smart, and as we've seen the zombies will just walk into fences and wires and get stuck.

Stick with me.

You'd also not wander about firing guns all the time - the bullets would be worth more in that world than platinum - and petrol only slightly less.

They have been more frugal with bullets of late.

Other than the people who are obviously mental.

There must be enough ammunition in the US to kill the population a thousand times over, so I don't think there would be a shortage of bullets. While there would have been a lot of shooting at the start of the outbreak, the casualty rate would have been so high and rapid that I imagine little ammunition would have been spent. Every town has a gun shop. They sell guns and arms in Walmart. Police stations, army bases, residents' homes and beside the remains of the fallen dead; guns and bullets must be readily available everywhere. Accessing them safely is the difficult bit.

I agree there would be lots of bullets, but I don't think there would be as many as you'd think - and to make use of all of them you'd have to have a weapon for each calibre. Transporting them would also troublesome.

Stabby stabby weapons would not only last longer (obv), but they would be quiet (although it would appear that loud noises no longer seem to attract the nasty zombies).

The main group aren't killing the zombs in the area outside the prison.

Rick went on a risky expedition to go get more ammo

Darryl always retrieves his crossbow bolts

The Governor is mental, and has loads of ammo anyway

The last few episodes have been great (the penultimate especially so) but I've found myself wanting it to go even slower. It could have easily dragged a few scenes to build up the tension or quite easily had a couple more episodes. I suppose the other two seasons were so glacial you feel spoiled when its ploughing through scenes.

The finale was just a wee bit disappointing but only in one (eye patch wearing) regard. Everything else was good (actually, thinking about it, the 'captive' with a zomb bit is getting a little tired now). Anyway, thank god I've got Game of Thrones or I'd have to find something else to rave about.

I think it was a refreshing change to have someone trapped in a room with a zombie and them actually get bit. It was so obvious she was going to escape, that I thought it was good that she didn't.

Surprised they didn't tie up the whole storyline, but I think that makes a decent change again. Plus, David Morrissey is brilliant. The first scene of the last episode was just amazing. He's so, so good at being evil. So, so evil.

When is next series, please?

Morrisey is brilliant, and don't call me David.

Ep 12 -

the return of Morgan, whilst nowhere near what happened in the books, was very well done indeed.

Really really good show - it's gone from strength to strength over the 3 serieseseses.
