The reason I put this in the Yay thread is that I was asked if I wanted to be one of the sponsors, so I agreed and I have a little ad inside the souvenir programme that just arrived. :)

This week we've done a go live on Monday for a migration from Gmail to Office 365, and on Friday a new LAN and phone system.

Both went very well, and I've had lots of people saying how this has made a huge difference for them.

I'm attending a friend's stag weekend in Dublin in mid-April, and had already planned to hang around for a couple of days or so either side of the festivities to have more of a break. I discovered yesterday that Frank Turner is playing there at the same time, so managed to get a ticket to fill up the evening once my friends leave. Normally when I'm planning trips I'll hear of a band touring in the area, but usually a week or so after I've been. Yay!

Adventure Committee suggests arrival on Monday not Saturday now. Due to reasons.

Haven't had to take an exam in years, but just done a Microsoft one for Dynamics 365. I think the nerve wracking part was actually the proctored bit. This is where you take the test from home and someone watches you through the webcam, monitors your screen and listens through your mic. The rules are quite strict too -

- clear walls, ceiling or floor, so whiteboards, posters etc. I ended up taking the exam in my bedroom as it's the room with the least clutter. I still had to move all the Mario and skull stuff out though just in case it was questioned. This is all checked with a pan around the room via the webcam
- no breaks, no food and drink
- they take a photo of you and your ID via the webcam
- the door must be shut and if anyone else comes in the room, it's an automatic fail
- no reading the questions aloud
- they check your wrists for anything written on them and in my case, I had to hold my glasses up to the webcam and show both sides of them.
etc

Anyway, the fact I'm posting this in this thread rather gives away the fact that I passed.. woohoo :)

Phew.. had to go through all this again and it's no less nerve-wracking second time around. Thankfully a few of the questions were a doddle, so that's the exciting 'MB2-717 Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales' exam passed.

It was harder to get my room clear this time.. I had twelve consoles on my bedroom floor for a start :D

Awesome! For some reason an exam in your own house, as they watch you via webcam, seem way more stressful than one in an exam hall!

You could write the answers on your feet then bring them up on the other side of the desk next to the monitor.

During the exam, you tend to forget about being watched, but it's the check-in that's the stressful part - as you're panning the laptop's webcam around the room, you convince yourself that they're going to find something to disapprove of and cancel your exam. So you end up going a little over the top and stripping the room bare. I take the exam sat on the bed (stripping most of the bedding off), as my bedroom is the least cluttered room of the house, but I still end up taking stuff like these out of the room too just to avoid any 'what the hell are they?' questions...

Roxanne Roxanne is coming to Netflix in March. YASSSSS !!! F*****G YASSSSSSSSSSS !

As soon as I heard about this a couple of years back I have been desperate to see it. I had every Electro from 1-12, both Crucial and UK. Got a bit poo after that.

Back then though (early 80s) there was no internet. So you would buy these records from an importer and then wonder who these people were. Much the same with NWA really. Straight Outta Compton was dope, too.

Much excite !

Oh, and this is going to be my 'yay board'

Post subject:  Re: The 'Yay!' thread

Probably the best present I have been given, ever.

About two weeks ago I uploaded a load of old photos I had scanned to Facebook, which I now use only for family. Any way, my aunt phoned my mum saying they had found some old Cine 8 reels and that we should go over and see them. Now back in the early 90s my uncle had some transferred to a VHS tape. However, it was all stuff we had seen before but was lovely to have. Today we went over and there were three with no labels on. My uncle opened them and began to unroll them a little and some pieces of paper fell out. So the first one said "Brands Hatch". Sure enough, it was bikes racing around a track with side cars, then cars racing. Then all of a sudden it cut and there was this tiny little kid bombing on his bike. then I realised it was me !!! I watched on and it was shot over our local park in 1979. I was riding on my first bike, then my brother and I were playing football, then it ended with me getting annoyed (because my brother kept pushing me over) and getting up riding my bike again.

The second one was labelled "C&D Sea.." and the rest was not legible. Turns out we had two rolls (so 10 mins) of our holiday in Spain four months before my dad died. Not only had we never seen these before, but we forgot that my dad had even taken the camera with him. Amazing. Seriously, amazing. he died four months later, and I guess my uncle found it too painful to go through all of the movies he and my uncle had shot, so ghosts were buried for nearly 40 years. I am taking them to a old gentleman I called today who is going to make them digital so I can watch them. A lot.

Yes indeed. It was so funny to watch my brother bundling me over. I was so tiny !

I think the cream on the cake though is me riding my little bike as fast as my legs could go. Reminded me how much I have always loved my bikes :)

haha there was another one where my uncle was holding me by my legs and dipping my head in the sea. My brother came over and jumped in and the next thing my trousers (and pants) were round my ankles lmao. I would imagine I was highly embarrassed then !

It is, yes. Funny thing is my dad is only in it once, and it's like a dark shadow. Very strange. I was a total daredevil even then. First video on my bike I am going like the clappers, then I go nuts on the swings in Spain :D

I reckon I've landed myself a bargain through Facebook marketplace. I was looking for an AV receiver on the cheap and a found a guy local selling a Yamaha RXV-371 amp for £70. Turns out it's barely been used and in pristine condition. While I was there, he asked if I wanted the speakers to go with it as he didn't need them anymore. For free, like. Naturally I was expecting something shoddy, but he pulls out a set of Cambridge Audio Lusso 10 5.1 speakers with a separate active subwoofer.

Barg!

Congrats on your yay, Kov. I hope you get the extra money, too, but if the extra/change of focus is good for you as it is then that’s fantastic. Sometimes it’s helpful to have a different project to immerse yourself into if you’ve been having frustrations.

Funnily enough I found myself in a similar situation where I was asked to take on extra responsibility in exchange for extra money. It was announced yesterday and today they say any more money is some way off.

A little ego boost today :-

In the words of one of our senior client stakeholders Kov spoke “eloquently” on our team brief today about the work he is leading for DXC to help address Rolls-Royce’s most critical business problem. i.e. IT availability in support of the manufacturing process. The importance of our focus on this problem cannot be stressed enough as evidenced by today’s latest news article https://www.reuters.com/article/us-roll ... SKBN1HK0L6

Kov should be really proud of his contribution to this DXC Rolls-Royce priority and his great presentation to over 100 of his colleagues. He is clearly well respected and trusted by our client.

Note - Our team briefs are the mechanism we use to brief our teams on DXC, client, partners activity with over 100 people attending. It would be great to get you to talk about DTC delivery in an upcoming session.

Regards,
Rolls-Royce Account Chief Technologist

I’d like to add to this….Kov’s contribution both to the ROV power down and more latterly on the Shop Floor War Room has been immeasurable, DXC credibility and relationships have improved as a direct consequence of his involvement – well done and thank you Kov!!

Kind regards
