Tinned peas are vile.
My mum does a mash that is 30% potato, 30% sweet potato and 40% cheese with more cheese on top and grilled. That Is just about acceptable, but only because it is great fried the next day.

Potatoes are pretty horrible unless you add fat to them somehow or other really.

I think the problem with most potatoes is that they are horrible full stop if purchased from the supermarket. You are lucky if you get a week before green sprouts appear everywhere.

I bought a couple of 25KG sacks from the local pick your own place early October and they are brilliant, keep them in my garage in the sack and get out what we need on a weekly basis.

Variety is red desiree, they are covered in dirt so really lean themselves to peeling before cooking, so nice though even now I maybe get one sprout among 6 or 7. Will be gutted when this last sack runs out and we have to go back to getting them from Tesco :(

Also bought a sack of onions at the same time, again find they supermarket onions are soft and crappy on the shelf. These have lasted well so far and are always nice and firm. The block at the farm said they will keep all winter if kept well.

Back to the topic of what to have with Christmas Dinner for me only one potato will do- Roasted in goose fat :)

I suspect we're off to The Church for the nursery singalong. I quite like The Church, as I take Brexit there as tea and cake is £1 and I can talk about Chamber music.

We will go to Mass on Christmas Day, its important to my wife. Around 18 years ago her dad had Brain cancer. The hospital said he was basically fucked but they would try some radio therapy. So at the same time he started going to church, he told me he was hedging his bets :)

He beat the cancer and is still alive to day, the best case for what he had is 5 years. His case is very unusual and his GP had to write to the hospital to tell them to stop the interns getting excited and telling her dad he was lucky to be alive each time he went for an annual check up!

Don't think my wife believes that God fixed him, but her view is that he went to church and beat his cancer so we should go at least once a year for that.

So I go along, to be honest I don't mind it. Christmas Mass is quite nice.

Their first reunion shows were very professional and on time so hopefully you'll be fine.
Have you seen them before?

I saw them the second time they played Wembley Stadium, then at Milton Keynes Bowl, and then Axl & friends in London and Nottingham.

The first two were some of the best live shows I've seen.

He did a good job with ACDC and I think he has got over himself now in terms of pissing his fans off. Think there was a lot of drinking and substance abuse going on when he was behaving like that.

In either Duff's or Slash's book, thete was mention of it and Axl had said that waiting would "buikd expectations and excitement", but, also, he was having pre concet parties for friends and family before the concerts, too.

Was MK Bowl, '93? Growing up in Cornwall meant that such things were out of reach of me, until REM at Cardiff Arns park in '95.

Last night I went to a Microsoft future event. This is an event that Microsoft and partners put on for retail and other such staff that sell their products. A friend of mine works for EE and managed to blag 3 of us in, all I had to do was to pretend to be Oliver Balaam all evening.

They had loads of Surface tablets, Xbox ones, HTC Vive and other things set so that people could have a play and find out more. There was a free bar too and also keynote speakers. These were dull… very dull. Turtle beach had a headset there too which was (apparently) liquid cooled and would adjust to the temperature of your ears to cool them down. I tried them on but had to pretend to look impressed as I couldn’t tell the difference. My ears still felt warm.

The best bit of the night was the Expertzone website. This is a Microsoft website that you can only sign up for if you work for an official retailer/partner of Microsoft. My friend once again, managed to get us all on with his colleagues details and confirmed us with their staff numbers and payslips.

Around the hall the exhibitors were giving out codes which would earn you points online which can be spent on games and merchandise. We came away with 5 Xbox one games between us, 2 hoodies and a messenger bag. All for nothing! There was also giveaways in the form of consoles and Surface things… Well worth attending.

I have been stood down from having to go to London tomorrow and will use my time wisely and go see the new Star Wars film with my brother.

...it probably says a lot about me that I don't see this as missing a couple of days pay but rather gaining a couple of days to pootle about.

It's been the weirdest 2016, all the horrible super rubbish heartbreaking stuff going on in the world, totally juxtaposed with buying my first place, getting the job I've been after for 7 years, and finding out we're having our first baby all within the space of 12 weeks!!
