Cavey, fantastic news! I'm really pleased for you all. :)

We went to IKEA for breakfast and happened to still be there for lunch... the cinnamon rolls were fresh out of the oven, when I opened the bag it smelled like Christmas. :luv:

That's great news, Cavey! What a relief that must be for you all.

I had been waiting for some biopsy results too, thankfully everything was contained to one area and was caught at a precancer stage. Back in 6 months to make sure they got all of it. The four weeks waiting for results to find that out was bloody awful, and i was fairly sure that if it was something more sinister it'd be pretty easily fixed. A quick Google of cancer stats whilst waiting for results (not a good idea - don't do this) tells me that lung cancer ain't the best one to get... So I'm so glad your bro is out of that danger zone.

On the flip side, I handed my notice in.

Not a particular 'yay' in itself, but the security of having actually made a decision to benefit myself and family and gone through the motions to put it into action is a relief.

A couple of years with the little smiley human feels like what life is for.

That's a brilliant yay Mimi. I would have wanted my wife to stay home with the children but we can't afford it sadly. She does only work 2 days a week at the moment so it's not as bad as it could be, but yeah. Good on you.

We're in the fortunate position that we can get by on my salary. We don't drink or smoke, we don't go out loads, and we don't eat a lot of meat* so our outgoings seems pretty manageable.

Plus, by the time you factor in childcare costs we'd much rather lose out on a bit of Mimi's salary and give Darwin the best care he can get.

*seems to be the most expensive thing in a supermarket shop

Good for you. my wife stayed at home after she was made redundant 4 weeks after her maternity leave finished

After all the hassle and stress of that its worked out really well, don't know what child care costs where you live but we pay £260 a month for one day a week.

So she is sort of saving £1000 a month by being at home.

So, I've just been asked if I would be happy to take up a job in Singapore, as an internal move. The relocation packages here are pretty good, but need to look into the numbers and how it would work. But seriously considering doing it... Ruth's fairly up for it as well...

It's fairly terrifying as decisions go - it might be for two or three years, and I can't see that there would really be a job to come back to afterwards (as what I do here would have been backfilled), so needs some thought

Take all the money you make in Singapore for three years and live like a Drug Baron in Cambodia for the rest of your life.
