The weather !

It's been a cold, wet windy winter and this is the first time I've felt comfy opening up all of the windows in the huge bay window of our flat.

I can smells the sea and that warm smell of asphalt.

Awesome.

Post subject:  Re: The 'Yay!' thread

The weather today and yesterday is lovely. What makes my life a misery in the winter makes my life awesome in the warmer months. So today I decided to do two things. One, go to the beach 80ft from my front door and two, test my MF100s out. For this I chose my old Blackberry Curve as it hasn't had its headphone socket derped and I don't need an amp for it. I've kept it around for years for general MP3 duties. £4 for a whole new genuine body and £2 for a trackball and then £3 for a genuine Otterbox.

And my cans.

Image

And some scenery. In the distance is Selsey.

Image

If you look closely here you can see the pier in Bognor Regis. Doesn't look it but it's over half a mile away.

Image

A fantastic way to kill two hours.

Image

Think I will take the ripper out tomorrow and ride down to Bognor.

Image

Then when I got home my lady had ordered me some sweets from Cranch's.

Image

Awesome.

the riding position and the lack of gears will make it harder to use....

I never ever had a problem with that before dude. I rode a BMX for the first 16 years of my life then ditched it for drugs and partying, but during my 20s (when I was 12.5 stone and lived in London) I used to ride for miles with no issues. In fact, just to prove a point I rode my Haro Shredder from my home to Box Hill and back (28 miles).

Every time I used to have a bike with gears I would break it. Seriously, my bikes live a very hard life. So to that ends I never got on with mountain bikes (riding down stairs bent the derralier (sic) into the spokes) so I always chose BMX.

Most of riding a BMX is just standing there any way. Once I get strength back in my legs that, and the bike, won't be an issue.

Post subject:  Re: The 'Yay!' thread

why would you ride down stairs on a mountain bike?

all that being true.. but my point is still correct

Because that's what I used to do dude. I was sponsored by JAD bikes for a while and rode a lot of street.

I bought the Ripper because at the back of the beach where I was sitting there is a path that runs for a couple of miles in both directions. So I can just take a nice slow ride either way and get my legs back to full strength :)

I can also maintain it properly, unlike mountain bikes (I fucking HATE gears and gear cables and so on).

I used to love going to Bognor / Littlehampton as a teenager. Margate/Ramsgate etc may have had miles of sandy beach, but you had to walk about a mile out from the waters edge before you were deep enough to swim.

:this:

I just end up breaking them. Or they fall out of tune and the chain grinds, or makes that annoying clicking sound. Or skips etc. Maybe if some one had taught me exactly how to tune the things I would have had more success on mountain bikes.

I'd never been to Bognor Regis before I moved down here. I'd been to Littlehampton loads of times and that used to be pure sand. They've slowly started throwing in handfuls of stones now though.

Last summer was a bit crap really. The summer before though? I spent two weeks in the sea. Absolutely loved that summer :)

Jas - thanks ! I'm hoping I get to do more of it this year. The winters are terribly harsh. I mean, rattling windows and howling winds. Summer is the pay off, and last year was a bit poo.

You know full well that this isn't the way this forum works. JC doesn't like, what he thinks he likes. He likes what other people will recommend...
