I've just booked the hotel for an upcoming trip to Manchester to see Lamb play in promotion of the second album of their reformation. While that's definitely a yay the day as a whole could go either way as it represents either a rekindling of, or rejection by, an old flame. And right now it could genuinely go either way as she's playing her cards pretty close to her chest and sending some very mixed messages.

Been looking for an interim dinning table and chairs as our current one is falling to bits (mostly the chairs)

Don't want to buy a new one before we extend the house next year as there is a 99% probability that if I do it won't be right for the extended house later on :DD

Found one on Ebay, solid mahogany with 8 chairs. The table extends to 8 feet (from 5'6) if needed for big gatherings. Its has some scuffs and marks, but a French Polisher will be able to sort that out.

£250 plus £30 delivery, you struggle to buy a couple of chairs new for that.

For that money it will owe us nothing in 12-18 months so could even justify chucking the lot in a skip if I had to.

Put it back on eBay! You may get someone else in the same boat as you.

Table arrived yesterday, just got it through the patio doors, so no need to take to bits.

Although I mostly wanted the chairs, and the table is a bit worn around the edges, I'm so pleased with it. Its made the dinning room look like a dinning room, sounds stupid I know but the last table just didn't.

Will be getting a French Polisher to see if he can tidy it up, but even here I'm not that bothered as it looks ok as it is.

Tickets get for Kevin Bridges finally! He just kept adding more and more Glasgow dates until I got in there so that was nice of him. Putting something in my calendar more than a year in advance is a level of organisation I'm really not comfortable with though.

Yay!

My big telly is fixed! It had been sat around for a year or something not working.

Turns out there's a second on switch on the back.

So by 'not working' you mean, 'switched off'?

My Dad actually did a similar thing. He didn't realise there was a switch on the back. He had taken the PSU out before he noticed...

That's the deputy head of the most business critical department of one of my biggest clients who can't turn a TV on.

The value of my bills will be increasing.

Suggest increasing operational risk loadings due to potential idiocy.

I lived without heating in my flat for FOUR YEARS because my storage heater wouldn't work. It just wouldn't heat up.

I checked fuses, breakers, I had sparkies out to check the electrical connections on the wall leading to the heater. No-one could see an issue.

I Googled the model number on a whim one evening and was led to a page that described a thermal cut-out switch, inside the heater itself, that was the size of one of those "DIP" switches you used to find on circuitboards.

All I had to do was press that switch in.

That happened to me with my Pioneer, I was pushing it back into position and holding the sides whilst I did this.

There is a switch on the side which is not easy to see and I turned it off.

Blind panic and cursing the guy I had bought it off ensured for 5 minutes.

Then I called Pioneer who set me straight

This was before the money clip :p

Shame, you could have used the money clip when paying the guy for the Pioneer.

Good luck!

Our last house move was done in December 2012 when MrsPaz was 5 days off giving birth to MicroPaz (not so Micro anymore, BTW).

Big props to friends and family for getting that done.

Hopefully moving won't be too much of a trauma, seeing as 14 months ago all I had was clothes, shoes, bedding and a couple of boxes of random stuff! I don't think I've accumulated very much in a year; all my furniture came from Ikea in the back of one Transit van and the only appliance I own is a washing machine.

Be done in no time! I'm so confident of that fact, that we've decided to have a few days away immediately before we move because who needs an easy life and a full week to pack...?

Been away in Belgium for 4 days, most of today was spent driving the wrong way home and then turning around in order to collect a boot full of champagne from France :D

So nice to see my son and play cars and other stuff, its like he has grown 6 inches in the 3 days, he can reach things today he couldn't last weekend.

Foo Fighters only exists as a band because Grohl wanted to go touring. He played all the instruments and sang all the lyrics on the first album himself (except for some of the guitar on X-Static). FACT!
