Does the Quad have a "hover" setting? In case you needed to drop your controller to help Zardoz out?

Good times last night.

Here's you razzing your car around.

Now that you can take off and land all by yourself I'll try following your plane with the quad next time.

Brilliant. Yeah, deffo mate.

Heh. The time between when an RC plane starts to crash and when it actually crashes is usually only a second or two. At least this way though we'll get the crash on video.

Been a lot of Nays round here lately, so I thought I'd post a Yay. I mentioned in the Members forum that I was expecting a phone call from a US-based recruitment agent for a well-known company doing Mac support. Well that happened earlier this evening and we had a really nice chat, following which she told me she'd recommend me for interview. Sure enough, I've just found out I've got two initial videoconference interviews on Wednesday.

Aside from some issues with commuting and unintentional lack-of-support, I like the company I already work for and am by no means desperate to leave. But this new opportunity sounds incredible, largely because it would mean doing the job I already enjoy but for a well-known and pretty amazing company. The fact it pays more and their office is easier for me to get to is just the icing on the cake. So, if I don't get this, that's fine. But I'm going to be doing my utmost to get through these interviews.

Exciting times, maybe.

I've just had a massive bunch of flowers delivered along with chcolcates from two of the ladies that work for one of our suppliers, just as a 'congratulations on the upcoming wedding!' gift.

It's funny the bonds you make. I email these two ladies all of the time, we speak on the phone, and it is always about problems, but I have a good relationship with most of the suppliers to the point that they go out of the way to help, and we always excahnge notes and pictures, share updates on life and weekends, etc. I send pictures of manatees at least once a week. But I have only met them once, and it was teh day my grandfather died so I passed over the meeting we had planned and the sum of our contact lasted maybe 10 seconds.

Anyway, happy things. I feel very blessed.

I've had an assessment centre today to deliver one of our 'difficult' programmes. I passed with flying colours! I'm on the next national training. :D

Yay indeed GJ! :)

I've had 5 interviews for the FB job now and it looks like I've got one more to go, with a guy in London, in around 2 weeks time (as he's on leave at the moment). So that's a bit crap. But the guy I spoke to last night in California told me to just be patient, because apparently everyone I've spoken to so far really likes me and they're very seriously considering offering me the role! :D

Our place does half a dozen or so, it's quite usual in the tech industry these days, especially for the larger companies.

Indeed - I spent a whole bloody week interviewing for a place at Trooper's company and still didn't get the bloody job! :DD

To be fair this hasn't been so bad. I had a telephone interview with a recruiter, then a simultaneous videoconference with the help desk heads in London and Dublin, then a videoconference with the call centre head in Califonia, then a videoconference with one of the senior IT guys and then the overall head of IT for FB at their California HQ. All the California ones were done in the evening, so I've not even had to take time off work for any of it.

The final interview is a face-to-face with someone in London at the actual office. It'll be the first and only time I've met anyone actually physically in person during the entire process! :D

I did point out that a visit to the office would help me decide if it was definitely the job for me and was told that it's unlikely anyone at all would step foot in that office and not want to work there. Which does sound pretty awesome, to be fair.

The interview process was privatised.

NHS cuts strike again.

I'm all out of political replies. Tell her well done.

And indeed well done to all the other yays here recently.

Interviews? Last two jobs I got because someone said "Do you want a job?"

Little 'yay' for me today. After almost a year of emo crap and several false starts, I really feel like I've got over the falling out with that ['person' - Legal ed.], have moved on, and, frankly, am better off without that ['human' - Legal ed.]

So grateful to have so many good friends both on here and elsewhere.
