You can assign more memory to the server at launch. I think it defaults to 512mb.
Pazland runs on an ancient quad core with 4gb of ram and is pretty big these days (despite having no users, hint hint) and spreads across numerous maps and worlds, but runs fine. More ram for Java. Oh yes
One of the things I tried was launching the server from a command line on the media centre PC and assigned it 2GB of RAM, the RAM usage was reflected in the server console and it showed as having loads free, but the 'Can't keep up' messages didn't change at all.
It's strange as it doesn't look overloaded, CPU usage is is generally around 25-30% percent, disk IO is low, network IO is low, and with the extra assigned RAM it had loads of RAM to play with - but it didn't make any difference.
All I can say for sure is that the exact same world, running on Mrs Hearthly's PC, is fine.
In fact, just logged into the world on the media centre PC, few 'Can't Keep Up' and 'ChopleyTurnip moved too fast' errors, and then it crashed.
Exact same world on Mrs Hearthly's PC runs bombproof for days.
It was definitely an incremental thing as well, the more 'stuff' Hearthly Jnr put into the world the worse it got, but the RABBIT EXPANSION was what really seemed to kill it off.
Crash report attached, for no reason at all
