I build Java applications for a living, using an IDE written in Java, and my workstation has 64 GB of RAM. These statements are not unrelated.

You can assign more memory to the server at launch. I think it defaults to 512mb.

Pazland runs on an ancient quad core with 4gb of ram and is pretty big these days (despite having no users, hint hint) and spreads across numerous maps and worlds, but runs fine. More ram for Java. Oh yes

One of the things I tried was launching the server from a command line on the media centre PC and assigned it 2GB of RAM, the RAM usage was reflected in the server console and it showed as having loads free, but the 'Can't keep up' messages didn't change at all.

It's strange as it doesn't look overloaded, CPU usage is is generally around 25-30% percent, disk IO is low, network IO is low, and with the extra assigned RAM it had loads of RAM to play with - but it didn't make any difference.

All I can say for sure is that the exact same world, running on Mrs Hearthly's PC, is fine.

In fact, just logged into the world on the media centre PC, few 'Can't Keep Up' and 'ChopleyTurnip moved too fast' errors, and then it crashed.

Exact same world on Mrs Hearthly's PC runs bombproof for days.

It was definitely an incremental thing as well, the more 'stuff' Hearthly Jnr put into the world the worse it got, but the RABBIT EXPANSION was what really seemed to kill it off.

Crash report attached, for no reason at all :hat:

If anyone's interested, I'm just about to start a live stream of me walking around Pazland. There's a greater purpose to it, but if anyone would to have a look, go to https://www.youtube.com/user/davpaz/live and mock my accent as much as you like.

I'll make the resulting video public afterwards, in case you can't watch minecraft at your desk at work or something :D

I will definitely be up for revisiting Pazland once Minecraft has Rift support.

It kinda does, but only on older versions. And it's a bit rubbish.

Problem is, they're adding Rift support to the Windows 10 version, which is based off the Xbox version, which is based off the mobile version.

So, the upshot is... no Pazland VR

Is that a texture pack you're using, or is that just how MC is now? It reminds me of a TP I used to steal the tools from.

Yep, that's where I got the tools. :-p
I went looking at the MC Forums a week or so ago. It was a shame to see most of my favorite mods and texture packs haven't been updated for years. I should really try the game again to see whats new.
Although, I keep telling myself that then not actually doing it.
