Nope, wasn't like that really, he attacked early on with a small group but I'd decided to fortify my base, I then countered and it carried on like that for some time. My undoing was branching out to the middle of the map which at first went well, until I was discovered and got swamped.

I'll let you off then!

Seriously though - 1.5 hours of nibbling at each other is a pretty cool scenario. I love how any game can go in so many different directions.

It appears that my thoughts today about producing Hellions instead of tanks against the Zerg is a good strategy. Plenty of places online say it's a great way to deal with those pesky Zerglings.

Pretty sure it's only the campaign though rather than multiplayer/skirmish mode, but that's not necessarily a bad thing!

ah thanks, couldn't, find it, not sure why.. i just want to get a bit of feeling about it before deciding if to buy and confront you guys,
it seems to have a lot of longevity though, so that's good..

why are you guysstarting to play it now, wasn't it released last june?

Did you play the first Star Craft?

It's basically just more of that, with a sprinkle of ZOMFG.

Most BEEXers are shit at the Multiplayer so jump in now, before we start learning. :)

I might jump on for a pre-bed game. Gonna make a drink of some sort first. A hot beverage. Perhaps a cocoa. Or a cup of tea. You get the picture.

Yeah, the games I'm playing are in the practice league.

Last night was another long tit for tat battle, ultimately I was the tit in tatters.

At least now I'm realising what I should have done and how to improve the next time.

got enthusiastic by watching the reports on the you tube films, and then wnated to know some more about things like the creep, googled for it, and then came into a wiki..

that background story is rather 2nd rate science fiction isn't it , kind a alienated me, better stick to the game itself..

which is even more Dune II like than i thought previously, not that much has changed in 18! years..

oh, and congrats Zardoz!

Thanks man!

Pretty hollow victory really though, I want to hulk smash someone off the map.

As for the story... just get playing the game.

Don't set the SCV waypoint to just off the crystal. Also don't set your waypoint to mine gas and then create 1000 SCV for 1 mine!!!!

FAIL! Although I still managed to beat the computer!

I won 2 games because the other player timed out!

thats exactly what i did when i started, i just played Terran and then realised that i had no idea how Zerg and Toss worked, so i decided to play with them for a bit just so i could get a good understanding to beat them, i am now totaly hooked on Zerg and am useless with the Terrans

I want to get my tactics past the base defence and build up until either getting poked by the enemy and needing to retaliate or reaching critical mass with my units and swamping the poor enemy, i tend to expand very quickly early on which can mean a very quick game if the enemy does a early push but most of the time they don't so i end up with a economy that is able to batter them even with heavy losses on my side. Another thing i really need practice with is the unit control i have a nasty habit of just mass selecting units and sending them on an attack spree with the [Shift A] command, need to get practising on my micro management i think.

I'm getting good now! Won the last five games in a row, and I'm now at 23 wins, 30 losses, so closing in on a 1:1 ratio after losing a shitload when I first entered the proper leagues. Exciting times!

Because I was a SCII "early adopter", Blizzard have just given me a free copy of WoW and sixty days to play it.

Anyone else get that?

Don't do it, Grim...!

I started playing again in January. Played it solid for a month and then realised (for probably the fifth time since it came out), that not only was it cannibalising all of my other game playing time, but that it was totally pointless and boring. But also addictive. Mmmmm, WoW.

ANYWAY, since I got SCII, I haven't touched WoW. SCII is awesome. As is playing other games.

I've played this for a few hours today, only on the campaign mode on normal mind. I didnt play the first game nor have I really played any of the other Blizzard RTS games such as Warhammer DOW so I guess Im pretty rubbish at it. Whilst I am doing ok and working my way through the missions, its taking quite a long time and becoming a bit of a grind. The day/night mission probably took me a good hour and a half.

Anyway, my main reason for buying this game, as with any other RTS or game for that matter, is to play it with people online, preferable bezzie chums.

Ive had a few alcoholic beverages tonight so Im probably just being useless, but is there anywhere where I can find all your gamertags or whatever its called in Blizzard world? (I'll obviously add mine whenever I figure out what it is. Its probably just "ramsea" with a bit of luck)

If not, can everyone add them here and if Zardoz is in a good mood and isnt too busy taking photos of the texture of his skidmarks, could perhaps add them to the opening post?

You lazy bastard, get trawling for the names yourself.

Bloody Ramsea.

You only need WTBs tag anyway as everyone has ditched this game now :DD

Quiet, Zardoz. You can't "ditch" SCII. It's eternally awesome. You can play as many other games as you like, but you can always come back for a few skirmishes. It's aces. Even if I did get spanked repeatedly last night when I played. >:|

Wow, I officially suck at this game. I cannot even beat the computer AI on medium, (other than the obvious) what is wrong with me ?

I was up until the early hours this morning trying different tactics to win but kept failing. Any tips you guys (or gals) can offer will be much appreciated. So far, I have only played with Teran.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
