I am so chuffed with having the Xbox working again, as it's been a week or two since I could really play it. This is quite sad. What's worse is that I'm almost even more chuffed by the Coffey-tastic green glow coming from the back of the Xbox now. Can you get custom 360 cases? |

Well, I have a lathe and I wouldn't bother trying. It wouldn't be that easy, you'd still want to end drill it and it's still hardened. Far easier to buy the right bits

The thing about living in the country is that I've just had to cycle a mile to the post box. Wouldn't have minded but it looked warm outside so went out in shirt sleeves and froze my arms off. And this is from someone who goes cycling at -5c. |

The whole "short journeys are bad for cars" thing is pretty much a myth with some truth thrown in. Yes, engines (and gearboxes) lubricate best at running temperature, but most modern oils are so insanely thin that it's a non-issue. Also in some cases you can get condensation in the exhaust that doesn't boil off because it never gets hot, therefore increasing corrosion. If you ran frequent (and I mean five times a day) short journeys of only a few hundred meters and didn't service the car at all then you might theoretically start to see problems. But keeping a car well-serviced is far, far more important than not driving it short distances. Also, a two-mile round trip should be plenty enough to warm the car up - it might not be enough to register on your temperature gauge but you won't want to be holding onto the radiator afterwards. |
