So my sister found this pic of me on Facebook from a photographer that took pictures in the nightclub* I used to go to back in the late eighties in Hull. I don't want the haircut back but would glady accept that volume and shade of hair now;

Also I am glad I grew slightly more into that nose.



*Spiders. Cocktails for 80p and indie / rock music - So I spent every Friday / Saturday night in there for about 2 solid years.

That was my girlfriend at the time. Spiders was a complete meat market though - cheap cocktails and dark lighting meant even I could get the occasional result.

Mrs Wookie used to tend bar there. I've been in once but it was daylight and smelled of sadness.

She meant Julia and I'd shown her the pboto the other day. It was a joke. Sje'd been to a talk by her accidentally.

We've been sorting through some of the epic amount of shite we've got stored away in millions of boxes, and found this charming personalised mixtape that Mrs Hearthly did for me back in 1997.

According to the little dream bubble Mrs Hearthly drew on there, I am dreaming of beer, boobs, bums, curry, and videogames. So no change there then.

The boxes of plenty have also yielded a Commodore 64 VHS tape that I made a long time ago. I am investigating now to see how old that is. It still plays alright. Games so far have been Retrograde, Marauder, and Turrican.

Yikes, some text has just come up, that I wrote in summer 1990 (!). I remember Brian, I felt he was stealing my girlfriend of the time away from me. This will have been in the summer holidays before I started college.

I did a canal holiday 14 years ago. Really peaceful - probably should do one again (BeeXBoat?).

Recommended. I reckon it's perfect for under 10s. The rides might be a bit tame for older kids

It was inbetween Buckingham and Milton Keynes so is that the Grand Union canal or something? It's my wife's uncles barge and it's brilliant. We've had a great, really peaceful couple of days on it.

Do they have a load of Ninjago stuff? My daughter is obsessed with it.

Not a huge amount. I get the feeling that they don't move with the trends very much. The only Lego Movie stuff was the 4D theatre for example. There is a Ninjago shop (right next to the Iron Man statute weirdly), but it's quite small.

They do have this though...
