I've noticed that when visiting my girlfriend's village on my 3DS, the village shops still have their German (and totally pun-free) names on the outside. Strange, huh?

On some non-Animal Crossing-related 3DS news, there was a system update yesterday which added new features to the StreetPass Mii Plaza, including new pointlessmini-games that you have to pay 5 quid each to download, and software bugs that give a higher likelihood of the Mii Plaza crashing.

If anyone's trying to catch a Char before July rolls around, it's actually the waterfall on the beach where it appears. grum blegrumblethreehourswrongonemuttermutter.

Not really interested in spoilers and the most efficient way of doing things (so far at least).

I think knowing the limits of the game is what tired me on the DS version, I prefer the surprise of this one.

For example today I met

Kapp'ns songs are often quite sad and wistful. I used to catch a boat to the island in the GC version just to have a song. Better than KK's tunes, anyway!

You can pick up a cheap 3rd party one in Tesco for about a fiver - Argos have the official one for £6 if you can find stock : http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 071148.htm

I've added your friend code to the list here : viewtopic.php?p=765264#p765264 and pinged Doccy G to see if he'll add it or a link to it onto the first post of the thread

Thanks for that - Hadn't thought to try argos. Was a bit resigned to having to get a train to my nearest game or something, but that's handily been averted.

Just a bit annoying to get a new thing which absolutely needs a non standard charger to use, and find it's not included.

I bought a USB charger off eBay for £1.69 delivered. Pretty sure including one of them wouldn't have broke the bank.

I have both but wont have my game online until later tonight

My original town had Oranges , I got Peaches from a visitor , and got Pears from my secretary

You cant post them to people can you ?

I'll open up my gates as soon as i get in and post on here but it will probably be about 19:30 or so , the pear and peach trees are behind the town hall , oranges are all over the place (perfect oranges are behind my house)

I only have Peaches / Pears and Oranges so anything else you want to drop off would be fine - at the moment i'm probably only doing 30 minutes / an hour in my town each day which is to grab the fossils , clear the weeds and maybe catch some bugs or some fish so i'm not too worried about getting anything in particular.

Would everyone be OK adding my sister to the friend code list? I know some of you have played Minecraft with her and (AFAIK) had no probs. If not, that's understandable, I won't be offended on her behalf. :)

Okay weird - all my other fruit reflowers but i've went forward 4 days (one at a time) and still no more pears - if i jump forward longer will it mess anything up ?

Or how far should i go forward for the pear trees to reflower ?

Gate is open again and perfect oranges / normal oranges / peaches are still on the trees if anyone wants them - i'll be back in about 30 mins

Yeah, should've came back by four days certainly. Well, if you get some back in a few days, lemme know. I dropped one of each fruit at your feet, make sure the coconuts and bananas are planted on the beach.

Reading online it says it should be 3 days for non native fruit - i'll have another go in a minute jumping forward to see if i can get them to show up - its strange that the other stuff did but they didnt

Mmm, well having spent a bit more time with it, a few more observations.
-This may seem pretty dim, but I'd quite forgotten it did 3D until it arrived. Which is probably just as well as if I'd bought it on that basis I'd be rather miffed. The effect does provide some depth, but hardly convincingly so, and moving it ever so slightly starts causing double vision. In whatever case, it generally looks nicer and less shimmery with it off.
- Tried Monster hunter 3 Ultimate demo. Found it didn't really work with the controls. Therefore One for if the WiiU becomes appealing enough.
- Tried Fire Emblem Demo. Well, except I didn't, as it crashes on startup. And due to the extraordinarily stupid limits on how many times you can start a demo, I can no longer even get that far. One to wait for cheaps then.
- The Mii it creates from taking a picture of you is unwittingly hilarious.
- I need more games.

Has anyone started cutting down any trees yet? I've got an axe but haven't yet. I don't want to chop down too many as trees are rather nice things, but frankly some are in the way a bit when I'm generally walking, and I feel a bit of pruning may be in order at some point.

I've cut down a few simply because I've planted so many fruit trees that I thought I could thin out a few plain trees for the more colourful and profitable fruit ones. I've heard some talk of tree ring patternings on the stumps, but all mine have been plain.

On the previous Animal Crossings, once I've imported enough non-native fruit types, I've gone on tree-cutting and re-planting sprees, and grouped the trees together by type, e.g. making an orange grove, an apple orchard and so on. Purely to keep the villages looking visually neat and tidy. Of course, this time I'll have to wait until all the existing trees have regrown fruit so I know what has to go where...

I think I did similar to that in the previous DS game, apple trees all together and so on.

What I love is that the game teaches you to be patient - I mean the fruit needs three full days or whatever it is, to re-grow, and that's just how it is, so you must be patient and do other things in the meantime (though isn't there some way to mess with the time or something in this game? I don't want to do that though, and want to play it properly).

I sometimes get in a bit of a flap thinking I need to build bridges etc a lot faster, but then again, why? Same as with finding all the fossils and everything else, you can take as long as you want and there are no punishments. I suppose you could miss things at certain times of the day, but everything has its time and will come again.

Patience. :)
