Furthermore, York. York has been replaced by an american place also named York, however the old one is still in use. Such decadence is not wise, for we will be sooner without any York at all. See also: candles.

Oxford is a place of boating and historic men to pile stones upon other stones for many weeks until a building results. These are still in place today, and enforce punitive taxes upon present mans, who can scarce be left with copper pieces with the weight of an sparrow.

Words have travelled on gas-waves to my ear device of a place named Manchester, which rests on a part of the world shared also by York. This intrigues me.

I know - I meant the Hampshire that isn't a depressing military town full of meatheads.

Canterbury is lovely, but if you don't like tourists or students, steer clear. If you give a toss about clubbing it's bad too, but then clubbing if for nobs. I liked it. I'd go back if (a) it didn't feel like regression (b) I didn't have bad memories of some things that happened last time I was there and (c) there were actually any jobs. There's basically shop work and the university, and that's it. And the students will hoover up all the shop work - they make up two thirds of the population when they're around.

London is a horrid place to live. Expensive, stressful, way too crowded, smoggy, and run by Boris Johnson. I mean, seriously. Visit it, by all means, but don't live there.

Warwick is nice enough, but small, and there's nothing much to do there. Close to Leamington though, which is a bit more interesting and has some lovely restaurants (five/three rivers - I forget which - is particularly good, though don't order any cocktails because they'll be smaller than your thumbnail and poorly mixed).

Stratford upon avon is lovely, gorgeous, and slightly artsy/historical, but it's very quiet and fairly insular. Some fantastic restaurants (esp. Edward Moon, and Hussein's), though.

I hear good things about Bath, and have always been fond of Manchester. Edinburgh was great too, but I've only been once and I don't know if I'd enjoy living there.

Oxford is very expensive to live in. On a par with London. There's a reason I live outside the ring road.

Yes. What's Birinsfield (er, I think) like? There're some new-ish builds down there that are £150k for a 2 bed.

You can pop into Future and ask when Amstrad Action issue 118 is coming out since they never officially cancelled it in print. Don't take no for an answer and remind them of the time that there was a printing error and issue 57 was two weeks late.

I was just thinking about that, no really, I was, I remember cycling all over London trying to find it, I must have checked out about 100 corner shops to see if they had it in stock!

Is Canterbury best? Or Hampshire? I fear two is a small number, not unlike 1.06. I am looking for the best place for these things:

Living and buying items
Working
Places of interest and note, such as: actors, ancient things, trees
Persons to be in a place with and enjoy, who are not screeching vomit beacons ("students"), nor mis-remembering shufflemen of great age.

There are many such places, says my guide of the world. But which is best?

Stratford-upon-Avon sounds like a nice place to live. Sinister Agent seems to like it there.

Norway?!

Richest country in the world, or at least in the top 3, judged GDP per Capita. Can't be too bad. If you like cold Nordic-y places.

My German teacher is Austrian, and has plenty to say about how great Austria is to live in, particularly Vienna. Even though she's lived over here with her family since they were allowed to, when Austria joined the EU.
