Morning :)

O.K. I doubt there are many Alienware fans here. I doubt there are many as geeky as me when it comes to what their computers look like.

Any way, incase you didn't know (and I highly doubt anyone did because the UK never got them any way) back when Alienware was Alienware they used to come out with limited run chassis from time to time. Most notable were their Superman desktop and laptops and of course, the amazing Star Wars chassis they did.

They only produced about 300 of the 'Dark Side' design chassis and even less of the light side (because they knew less people would want them).

Since owning my Alienware I have gone off to find other obsessive geeks who love them too, and I have met this guy who managed to get his hands on all 4 of the vinyl 'proofs' they used to make the ltd side panels. I also did some poking around after seeing how they wrap police cars and have found myself a company who can print custom vinyls for me. Soooo I am now going to create the world's only ALX Star Wars chassis. Basically my friend is going to scan in the vinyls and then I am going to rescale them to fit my panels. However, the vinyls will probably run me around £50 so I can't decide whether to go with the light side (use the force, Coffey) or the Dark Side. I must admit that I do like the light side better. So, help me decide !

Light Side.

Just to note. If I go light side I will change all my case lights to either blue or green.

If I go Dark they'll all be red.

Can you have one side light and one side dark, for 'balance'?

Oddly that's exactly what he ended up doing LOL.

I sit looking at the right side of the case (so right side pic) and I do love that vader one.

Might be a bit hard to scale because my case is about 5" stouter than the original, but I'm sure I could lose a bit of his body.

Both are pretty ugly.

The Dark side less so.

You'll be breaking copyright doing this, JC. Make sure the vinyl printing place aren't going to get shirty about it before laying down any cash.

SLJ said he would only do it if his sabre was purple. I think he had to beat George Lucas up to get him to allow it.

Yeah I know :)

I've sent them the pics of the cases so they can decide whether they want to or not before hand. I've also found a place in Canada who are doing Star Wars laptop skins so I'm sure they don't give a shit about copyright.

Maybe JC is wanting to match the lights up with the light sabres.

It also allegedly had BMF down the handle, after the Bad Mother Fucker wallet in Pulp Fiction. I don't know if that's true or apocryphal though.

I was under the impression that Sammy L asked for a purple LS, but GL said no. Then he surprised him by actually going ahead and doing it, anyway.

In the 3rd new one, I think it is, when SLJ goes "This party's over" I always expect him to say motherfucker afterwards, there's even a little pause for the word to be in there

I have seen pics of it (from before the films were out) but always assumed they were fan art.

I dreamt last night that I was a laundryman on the Death Star. And I accidently left a pen in one of the storm trooper's smart casual wear pockets which leaked, staining everybody's shirts and trousers in the washing machine - all quarter of a million of them. This forced Darth Vader to call off the Death Star warming party to which everybody was invited. Grand Moff Tarkin and Vader made it clear that they were very disappointed in me, and I got oddly stinging tuts of disapproval. I'm not sure why they didn't kill me. Maybe they were too busy with other things like destroying planets, or maybe I was otherwise the best laundryman in the empire, with extra-crisp ironing of uniforms for Admiral Bronson. Anyway, it was pretty awesome.

Alienware eh? I could never countenance Yoda's stupid face on my computer. "Abort, or retry, there is no cancel..." The only fancy schmancy computer cases I could ever accept are those cool steampunk wooden and brass ones. I love those.

Actually, I would accept a case involving any Miyazaki film.

Also, if pressed, I would choose the Dark Side.

I hate typing 'Media Center' but since it's a merkin thing, that spelling is correct. You'll notice that I usually append it with [sic] to fight off my fellow pedants

Of course, much Merkin spelling is actually Older English spelling and, technically, more correct.

Heard back from the printer today. I thought they had bricked it as I didn't hear from them in three days.

£40 delivered. That's not too shabby at all really. Just need to get the proof art now and work my photoshop magic on it :)

Oh and I decided to go Dark Side because it's easier to manhandle and rescale than the light side art.

Nah the lighting is part of the kit. I almost paid £140 to swap the case for a black one with chrome, but that ended up free.

I got kinda tired of looking at the big bogey, it didn't match anything else.

TBH I've not really brought that much that hasn't added speed power or function. The media display panel was an expensive item but it's the only way I can monitor my temps when actually in a game (when it's most critical).

Spending £40 on some stickers is kinda stupid, but then that's just me :)
