Yeah, you're right, the mix used to be closer to half and half though.

Also, Ska Studios might as well be an MS owned studio, tbh.

Have you heard much about that Brothers game? Looks like it might be alright.

Post subject:  Re: XBLA thread-oh

It's from Starbreeze, and they had a lot of key staff leave after they shipped the Riddick remake (their lead tech guy set up the studio working on the new Wolfenstein game, and he took a few people with him). Their last game, nuSyndicate, was shite.

It's a game where you play two brothers simultaneously with each analogue stick, and they each have one button for context dependant interactions. For some things, the older brother's interaction will be different to the younger brothers'.

I hear it's fairly short, but from the trailer I saw its quite a looker.

That's all I know about it.

Or wait about 5 minutes (real 5 minutes not 'just 5 minutes')

Its still 'down' according to their webpage but i was on for a while - its strange to see which bits are broken and which are not

To begin with it told me i had 10 friends online but since i wasnt connected it couldnt pull any data to show them
It then downloaded the latest beta , rebooted and again told me I had friends on
I started up BLOPS2 and it told me it had a patch to install so installed that - then I had to choose offline mode in there to play.

I've got 240 points left. Well, that 'money' that Microsoft will be stealing from me since there's nowt to buy with that few points. Mind you, I've not had a look around Live for a few months and it was a desert of boredom; nothing that looked remotely interesting. Nevermind.

If you wait a few weeks they will turn that into a very small amount of cash and credit that to your account instead - and then you can add to it and buy something or just ignore it and microsoft will take it from you just as if it was star points

Unfortunately it's a bit late now, isn't it? The 360 is not a very good indie platform for a number of reasons. Mainly that they have to use XNA, but also that MS bury the indie channel as far deep as they possibly can. (In before 'I buried your mum as far deep as I possibly can.')

Try Not to Fart is brilliant though, obv.

These are the Indie Games I've played that I've thought were really quite brilliant:

Soul: At it's heart it's just a guide a 'marble through a maze game' but with brilliant spooky story and lovely hand drawn GRAFX.
Infinity Danger: :attitude: liked it. He was right.
Prismatic Solid: Bullet hell-lite shooter that's reet nice.
Crossfire 2: Space invaders where you can also jump on the ceiling to rain death from above.
Zombies 8 My Cookie: TANKS! ZOMBIES! 2 PLAYER! COOKIES! Brilliant 2 player game. Seriously, it's ace.

Remember to pick up Ass Crud II before the end of tomorrow when they swap out the 'free' games , rumors are that next months two will be Crackdown and Dead Rising II

http://www.oxm.co.uk/59216/rumour-dead- ... box-games/

Quote:
Rumour: Dead Rising 2 & Crackdown will be the next free Xbox games

This Thursday will see the release of the next game given free to all Xbox Live Gold members as part of the ongoing Games with Gold offer, but currently we don't know which games will replace Assassins Creed 2 in the promotion. Until perhaps now.

As spotted by NeoGaf, Polish gaming website Xbox 360 Online Center is claiming information from "a reliable source" that August's offerings will be Capcom's Dead Rising 2 and the very popular Xbox 360 exclusive Crackdown.

Crackdown, of course, is the open world third person action game from 2007 where you play a super-powered Agent dealing with the unsavoury element of Pacific City - or more accurately, bouncing around a massive city playground collecting orbs and throwing cars at unsuspecting criminals. The more recent Dead Rising 2 has a similar open-world shtick, only you're dealing with hordes of zombies as motorcyclist Chuck Greene in a Las-Vegas inspired city while trying to protect your daughter from becoming a member of the undead. While dressed in a mankini, if you choose.

If you've 'bought' it by clicking on purchase for free either on the console or on xbox.com then no - its associated with your account and you'll keep it.

If you've not then login to xbox.com and do it from a web browser : http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Produ ... 025553083b

BTW GTA4 plus all of its expansions are on offer at the moment £8.99 for the 'main' game and 400 points for Lost and the Damned / 800 points for Gay Tony

Where as I have both it and Case Zero (and the other downloadable one ..... Case West? plus the 'remake' thingy 'On the Record') - they are not bad and there are parts that get close to the fun of the original but dont quite hit every point.

It will be interesting to see how the multiplayer gets populated as that was always an issue playing it before - you would literally go for dayswith no other players to connect to or always see the same small group of 3 or 4 people

Although it doesn't sound very challenging I'm a sucker for something pretty and charming with a decent narrative so I'll almost certainly pick up Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons at some point. Hell, given my current performance with The Last of Us maybe something with little challenge is exactly what I should be looking for.

Post subject:  Re: XBLA thread-oh

Just thought I'd switch on the ageing Xbox to see what's going on in there. Nowt much in the way of demos but a few new trials to play with:

Charlie Murder: It's Double Dragon meets Castle Crashers meets Dishwasher. I bet we're fed up of side scrolling beat em ups at the moment but I liked the Dishwasher stylings. It's hand drawn, it's dirty, it's bloody and it has the same dark humour. It's a shame that the Dishwasher folks didn't try something a bit more taxing as whereas it's ace it's limited by the genre it's chosen. It mixes it up a bit so it's a little less linear and has some mobile phone thing that every character has these days but my thumbs can't handle pounding X until the osteoarthritis snaps my joints off today.

Two Brothers: It reminds me of that PSN name that escapes me at the minute (Apu & Go? Nope.) because there's fack all challenge but it's a nice lazy Sunday romp. Apparently there's an awesome story so I might give it a punt at some point if I remember.

Cloudberry Kingdom: Facking mental platform nonsense that looks like it belongs in the Public Domain days of gaming. To be honest I hated it. But look at it. Look AT it. LOOK. AT. IT.
