Dust looks good but it's mind-numbingly boring.

It just made me fire up the GBA emulator to play some castlevania.

It looks like Microsoft are sending out reminders to people who had points in their account which were switched over to 'cash' in June last year

It goes to the email address you have registered for your account - so may not be your regular one - worth checking as you only have about a month to spend whatever is left on there otherwise you lose it.

Or alternatively: they lost me.
If they're going to arbitrarily remove money I've spent, there's sod all chance that I'm ever going to do so again.

Got Xbox Live Gold And Don't Need It Anymore? Microsoft Will Pay You Back

Microsoft recently announced a major change to its online subscription. Starting in June, an Xbox Live Gold membership will no longer be required to access third-party apps like Hulu Plus and Netflix.

However, the new standard doesn’t do much good for the vast number of users who have paid $59.99 for an entire year of an Xbox Live Gold membership they no longer need. Luckily, Microsoft has offered these people a solution.

Once the new update goes live, Xbox Live Gold subscribers who want to cancel their subscription will receive a refund if they do so before the end of August.

“If you purchased a Gold membership before the changes to Gold are available in June you have until 31 August 2014 to cancel, and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused days remaining between the day that you cancel and the day that your paid Gold membership ends,” Microsoft writes on its Xbox FAQ.

An Xbox Live Gold membership is still required to use the Xbox 360 or Xbox One for multiplayer gaming.

I have Live until some point next year

Live ran iut a few months ago. I still have some cash in there, but not enough to buy anything I'd want. And as I'm not putting in any more, it's going to disappear.

Still, I'm sure it's worth it for them.

Xbox Live Games with Gold for June 2014

Next month, Xbox Live Gold members can look forward to a total of five free games on Xbox One and Xbox 360. As Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently announced, June’s system update will debut Games with Gold on Xbox One, with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault. We will announce specific dates that these games will be available soon.

On Xbox 360, Xbox Live Gold members will receive a bonus third title in June to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Games with Gold. Starting Sunday, June 1st, Dark Souls (normally US $19.99) will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through June 15th.

Then on June 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download two titles, Charlie Murder (normally US $9.99) and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (normally US $29.99) , for free through June 30th.

This is probably the best thread for this I think, so for those of you who are:

a) Still rocking it up old-school with a venerable XBox 360 and

b) Very much enjoy a game of video golf

I would highly recommend GOLF TEE IT UP which costs £3.49 or £3.39 or something, it was less than £3.50 anyway. It is available as a digital purchase from the XBox store, which I think is still XBLA, but I'm not sure, my 360 only gets turned on a couple of times per year.

My chum has been over for his annual visit this weekend (he hasn't missed since 1994), and one of our favourite things to do is play videogames.

We have many old favourites that we return to time and time again (Hyper Sports and Football Champ on an original chipped XBox, for example), but I decided to really push the boat out this year and purchase AN ENTIRE NEW GAME for us to have a crack at.

It's kind of like a 'proper' golf game but with more old-fashioned arcadey style controls (a nice basic tap-tap-tap for the main shot, for example), with a lovely crisp 3D graphics engine, great music and sounds, and amusing character appearance customisations (which make no difference to the actual gameplay).

There are loads of different play options, local multiplayer in match play mode with a random selection of 5 holes made for a nice twenty minute game in our experience.

There are only two courses included in the purchase price but you can buy another for a trivial amount (59p IIRC).

Great stuff, we had a lot of fun with it, probably a bit dreary for single player but if you've got someone to play with, splendid fun.

I really like my 360, and overall it's been one of my favourite ever games consoles.

It did the whole 'trouble free online gaming' thing at a time when all that stuff was still pretty shonky on the PC, and it's nice to be able to turn it on once or twice a year and have it all just work without a million updates or patches needing to be applied.

It appeals to me in a way that the XBox One and PS4 absolutely do not.

I agree with a lot of this. I have an Xbox One and I want to love it, but there's something that's stopping me and I can't quite put my finger on the specific reason why.

I do think that I genuinely miss seeing what everyone else has been playing. The Xbox One is picking up a bit on the social side of things now but in it's day, it was common to have upwards of 20 other people online at the same time as me all playing something different.

Also, maybe my gaming habits have changed? I do honestly find the majority of new games confusing. Just last night I had a quick look at Halo 5 online and got confused by the Req packs and cards and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change my loadout! In the mean time, I can happily play the Pac-man museum as I know exactly where I stand with all the games on there.

I loved the 360 and XBLA games. Sadly, my 360 seems to get noisier each time I use it, so it's rather gathering dust now. That Tee It Up reminds me of Ace Golf on the Gamecube though - a very good golf game that uses the C stick for golf swings and worked very well.

From 2005-2010 it was THE console to have, and I had the absolute best time playing offline and online with it. Then MS lost their way with it and filled the dashboard up with adverts and shifted their focus away from gaming and towards multimedia. Then *that* Xbox One launch announcement :o

I think it's impossible to recreate that (I remember 40 people on my friends list all playing GTA IV at once and that time we filled up an entire FIFA team online), but we've had some good moments on the PS4 too. It probably doesn't help everyone grew up and had kids etc. ;)

If all the old XBLA games I'd bought had carried over to the Xbox One, I'd have probably bought one by now. Although, looking at the backwards compatibility list, the number is looking a lot healthier than it was. I never had enough reasons to buy a PS4/Xbox One/Wii U, so I didn't, but maybe I should look again at that. :)

The backwards compatible stuff on the Xbox One is actually really good. It's making me play games that I'd either forgotten about or not got round to playing in the first place.
