Baba Z is awesome at sleeping, mostly. Had a run lately of her waking up at 6ish but she's been getting back to sleep ok.

Win.

Raven's normally pretty good, she's just teething at the moment, so this last fortnight's she's been less settled at night, plus she's picked up on Pauline starting back at work too after her Maternity Leave.

Wait, isn't that loads?

Edit -- no, my Omega's turning circle was 10m. I thought it was less for some reason. My Picasso's is 11m, oddly, despite having a much shorter wheelbase. Stupid French.

Depends on driven wheels doesn't it? FWD and 4WD vehicles generally have pretty poor turning circles due to the drive to the front wheels limiting their ability to turn.

Black Cabs have a turning circle of eight metres, and run on a Range Rover chassis, fact fans.

Did you go to the Monk Exchange?

No, we went out near Chancery Lane, so went to Ye Olde Mitre.

Albin0Kid - on reflection, no, indeed not. The thought was there though. Still, apologies to all.

Ooooh, I love that song. I love Pearl Jam, actually. Does that make me a bad person? Moreso, I mean.

You can have some of my pearl jam any day you like, big boy.

If we're talking about the band, then they're ok too. Droman is a massive fan.

I'm sensing from those two responses that "Pearl Jam" is a euphamism for something.

Oh dear.

A friend contacted me recently, asking for some help. He'd booked a trackday at at racetrack called "GoldRock"for him and his brother through a company seeming to specialise in this sort of thing. 6 days before it, fell down a flight of stairs and broke his toe, meaning no driving. He's since contacted the agency asking for a refund/rebooking and they've said "they said they could do nothing as it was Goldrock whom I was booked with and that they had already invoiced them for the money. If they held the money they would've refunded me the money or allowed me to rebook in these circumstances." and Goldrock have said "Not our problem, guv, speak to the agency".

A look through their website he booked through T&C's brings up this clause:

Quote:

Regretfully under no circumstances can we cancel, refund or reschedule an experience or track day once a date has been booked, so please ensure you, or the person(s) you are buying the event for are able to attend the date chosen before you make the order. Refunds on unwanted vouchers can only be made to the person who purchased the voucher and will be paid via cheque. Unless redeemed or expired, vouchers can be transferred to a different person with the permission of the voucher holder and/ or purchaser.

And in the bumf he was sent, from GoldRock, post booking, there was this:

Quote:

If you choose to cancel for any reason, you will be in breach of contract and we reserve the right to retain all monies paid

As it turns out, the agency off insurance for such events, but this was never offered at the time of the booking. He's asked me to look into it, as he wants to take legal action.

I'm intending to say to him:

"Frustrating as it is, it's less than £200 quid. The amount of time, effort, stress and cost of taking them to court over it would make it not worth it. However, there might be some case present, under s.3 UCTA 1977, but I'd seek proper, paid legal advice".

It's not exactly a wildly ingenious euphemism.

The legal advice would cost far more than £200 of course.

I'm fairly sure it's not going to fall foul of UCTA or UTCCR, though.

"SPUNK" would have been a far better name, to be honest. Or, perhaps more subtlely, "MANGOO"

Having actually now read the act, I'm not sure, either (accompany materials he sent,, he mentioned it).

I'm currently viewing it as buying a ticket to a concert and then not turning up. I can think of many arguments as to why they don't have to offer him his money back, or rebook, as well.

I'll email him later.

This happened to me at a karaoke night once when I was doing Spandau Ballet's 'Gold'. I ended up doing the verses in a William Shatner spoken-word style.

I'm fairly sure it's not going to fall foul of UCTA or UTCCR, though.

Or a train ticket, for that matter.

He has no chance, basically.

Ooooh, I love that song. I love Pearl Jam, actually. Does that make me a bad person? Moreso, I mean.

No. Best band ever.

I thought everybody knew that. It's why they chose that name, apparently.

I never realised either.

Partly as it's complete bollocks. That's not why they named the band that.

It was Mummy Vedder's marmalade with pschadelic qualities, IIRC.

In an early promotional interview, Vedder said that the name "Pearl Jam" was a reference to his great-grandmother Pearl, who was married to a Native American and had a special recipe for peyote-laced jam.[13] In a 2006 Rolling Stone cover story however, Vedder admitted that this story was "total bullshit" (even though he indeed had a great-grandma named Pearl). Ament and McCready explained that Ament came up with "pearl", and that the band later settled on "Pearl Jam" after attending a concert by Neil Young, in which he extended his songs as improvisations of 15-20 minutes in length, a practice known as jamming.[1]

The legal advice would cost far more than £200 of course.

Thanks, Mr Chris, for confirming.

This'll be a happy response to an email that I get....

The most popular thing which I least 'get' is Duffy. I do not understand the appeal at all. Her voice sounds like someone is rubbing guitar strings with a cheese grater.

Oh, that's not what I came here to say. I wanted to ask if there was a way to set up auto-correcting on the mac. Not in a word processing program but in the browser (Safari) I have to add 30% of time used to type something back on tot he end of that time for correcting all of the instances of 'teh' that I write instead of the intended word every single time.
