I'm truely flattered as I know how close that score is to exploding the universe.

Some mad fella's made a game that deletes stuff off your computer when you shoot aliens 8)
Quote:
Lose/Lose is a video-game with real life consequences. Each alien in the game is created based on a random file on the players computer. If the player kills the alien, the file it is based on is deleted. If the players ship is destroyed, the application itself is deleted.

Although touching aliens will cause the player to lose the game, and killing aliens awards points, the aliens will never actually fire at the player. This calls into question the player's mission, which is never explicitly stated, only hinted at through classic game mechanics. Is the player supposed to be an aggressor? Or merely an observer, traversing through a dangerous land?

Why do we assume that because we are given a weapon an awarded for using it, that doing so is right?

By way of exploring what it means to kill in a video-game, Lose/Lose broaches bigger questions. As technology grows, our understanding of it diminishes, yet, at the same time, it becomes increasingly important in our lives. At what point does our virtual data become as important to us as physical possessions? If we have reached that point already, what real objects do we value less than our data? What implications does trusting something so important to something we understand so poorly have?

Aye Ayes are absolutely wonderful creatures. Demonised in their home country though :(

Edit: See that long middle finger? They use it to tap on tree trunks to find hollow bits that might have a grub in there, dig it out with their POWERFUL INCISORS, then use the finger to weedle the grub out. Wonderful.

Sloths are great too. So slow moving that mould grows on them. Most adults carry a huge colony of moths on their back, which hop off when the sloth goes to the forest floor for a dump, to lay their eggs in the fæces. Brilliant nature is.

When I go for a dump, Doc Gaywood scales down my back and sticks a dragon flag on it.

Woollies are beautiful creatures. Endangered now due to the evil pet trade. I spent a happy hour at Monkey World captivating little Diago's attention at the Woolly enclosure the other week. He's not much bigger than the little guy in that photo.

Now I wait for Zardoz to make some comment on paedophilia.

Isn't Monkey World near Bovington Tank Museum? I've always thought they should combine the two for what would demonstrably be the World's Best Day Out.

It's on the other side of the road. Coming from Bere Regis, Tank Museum's on the rights, Monkey World on the left.

You ought to come down to Twycross too. Get there early and be amazed and deafened by all the gibbons in full chorus.

I've been to Monkey World twice. Once when it first opened with my grandparents, and then last year(?) for Ange's birthday. I'm not allowed to go to the tank museum.

I got chittered at by an angry crowd of wild long-tailed macacques last week. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
