Perhaps you should learn how to use your phone first. If only you could Google it ;)

Why bother doing that when I can moan about it on here and have someone oblige me with a link within minutes?

Cunt.

That link probably won't be much use to you, as the service only has a limited amount of usages per day for anonymous folk.

There are lots like it, though - or you could just download your APK from somewhere else and sideload it.

I'll figure something out. Just need to be able to download my company's app and a different browser. Cheers.

Better hope "APK Downloader" isn't infecting its downloads with malware and/or have fun explaining to your boss why you have a virus on your phone that's leaking company data.

What exactly was ever your problem with Android though? If you remove all the Google hate and your nonsense moaning about 'openness' are you really that surprised that a modern smartphone OS is at least decent?

Hello android users, my contract is up in November and I think I have decided on android as my next os as apple is too pricey and fragile and I want to move on from win8 which I found to be very good, but am tired of missing out on all the apps that 'normal' phone users get. Unfortunately Nokia seems firmly tied to windows and my Lumia 8....20? Is the best, most bombproof, reliable phone I've ever had. Samsungs feel cheap and nasty to me (Mrs.w has a S3) same for htc.

I could go a bigger screen a bit.

or do i just keep the old beast and put up with the poor app support?

If you have big hands, the Samsung Note is an incredible bit of kit.

I shall bide my time untill nexus 6 then although I've never even seen a nexus let alone played with one. A visit to a physical shop might be in order :o

the battery life on the Sony seems ridiculously good. 13 days with use? Naaah

edit: the note looks unpocketably huge, i have to be able to get it into the top pocket of my overalls which is the only place phones don't get crushed.

The thing with the Nexus 5 is that it's currently mega-cheap and a stunningly good phone, so the Nexus 6 will have to be pretty special to justify any significant extra investment.

According to the rumors it's going to have a six inch quad HD screen. Whether that's of interest to you or not is a different thing of course but that's the differentiator.

Also Krazywookie have you had a go at an HTC One M8 in the flesh? There are many things you can say about it but cheap and nasty really isn't one of them; it's about as premium feeling as a phone gets.

I have fiddled with a One, not sure if m8 or not. Is there a big difference? Whichever it was it felt waaay too light, had nasty sharp edges and i had trouble holding onto it. The battery life thing was on the gadget show website, i may have misread it. Or they may be idiots.

I really will have to get to a phone shop and try out a few.

nexus 5 or 6, Sony z3, sams note, anything else?

next one will have to be bigger I've decided.

Have they changed chrome again. Now you can't swipe tabs from the RHS without loading a new (incognito) tab!

Where are you swiping? If I do it on the address bar I switch between tabs as normal and if I do it anywhere else nothing at all happens.

yeah, it used to be anywhere, then they changed it, but they seem to have updated the menu bar, so a swipe in the address bar (on my nexus, at least) opens a new tab, moer often than not incognito.

Nope, can't make mine do that.

I can only speak anecdotally, but I'd imagine the number of people that find the S Pen useful make up less than 1% of the owners.

That comment is actually talking about the original Note but I totally agree, I took the stylus out of it's housing about five times in the entire time I owned the first two versions of the Note and most other people I know with one are the same. I'm actually a bit surprised Samsung keep including it as it would surely save them time and effort to ditch; unless there really is a core of the market that use it heavily we're not seeing and Samsung don't want to alienate them.

One thing I did find interesting about that review is the mention that with the new Note they've quietly dropped USB 3 compatibility. The charging port on the Note 3 is huge and ugly and I doubt a lot of people are using the bumped up transfer speeds but it's still odd to see a company go backwards in that regard.

But it charges so fast if you use the big chunky cable!

The port is irrelevant. Devices with the Qualcomm Quick Charge tech can charge even faster (+75% in 30 min) via a standard uUSB port.

The Internet disagrees - for example:

That means the Note 3 can suck up a 900mAh current when you’re charging it from your PC as opposed to microUSB 2.0’s 500mAh current, resulting in faster charging.

The newer port also offers faster data rates for media transfer,[...]
