It's all about how much of your field of view it covers though isn't it? I reckon a typical cinema screen still covers more than a typical TV set, even by today's standards.

How bad is Sin City: A Dame to Kill for? Let me enlighten you. It's bad. So bad. Don't watch it if you liked the original. Even the subtitle is bad. Why couldn't they have left it at A Dame to Kill? It's clunky. Let's pretend it doesn't even exist. What doesn't exist? Hunger Games 3? Yeah that Hunger Games 3 is pretty erm good, right? Did I ever mention that I like the babe who plays, erm, the main woman character? I'm sure I mentioned that she'd make a fantastic Lara Croft. Remember Lara Croft? Shot a dinosaur. If I met a dinosaur I wouldn't kill it even if it tried to kill me. I mean, I've never met a dinosaur. I'd just be trying to get away so I could get outta there so I could go and tell people about it. I'd be sat on the plane trying to get 3G so I could get on BeeX with a picture of an upside down dinosaur. Hey, we forgot about Sin City: A Dame to Kill for, didn't we? Oh noes!

The new Sin City is fucking execrable indeed. Unless you like Eva Green's boobs, then its got a couple of redeeming features.

The Rover was indeed fantastic.

Didn't realise it was from the same director as Animal Kingdom, which is also highly recommended.

Nightcrawler - Astonishingly good performance from Jake Gyllenhall. Disturbing and unnerving film. Bloody well done but not exactly fun happy times.

Mr Turner - Terribly terribly boring.

Interstellar - Really rather good. Despite being near enough 3 hours it properly justified its running time and never really got boring.

Yeah, interstellar is pretty great. Not sure why some people are moaning about being unable to hear the dialogue properly either, apart from those bits that were very obviously intentionally drowned out by noise it was fine.

Imax in Manchester? The Odeon printworks? I've seen a film in there. Maybe two.

Out of focus as fuck and the f1-style rotating cleaner didn't work so the same spot came back into view every twenty minutes, before sliding off again.

We went to see Interstellar at Trafford centre using the no-expiry freebies we got because they put Silver Linings Playbook on instead of Seven Psychopaths. The clerk asked if we wanted premier seats, and then so did the manager when he had to authorise because it was free list suspended. Both were a bit WTF about us saying no even being free. Seriously shit chairs though.

Also there were maybe two dozen people in a 7pm showing of a blockbuster in opening week. Oof.

End!

That wasn't bad at all, actually. Freaky-ass doll was freaky, and didn't dance around or anything too much.

The bit in the lift was very clever, as was the girl running toward the door earlier in the film.

Worth a shot, horror fans! God knows there's not been much for us to watch recently.

Watched the 2013 Arnie film 'Sabotage' last night, it's on Netflix USA.

Good film in the main, albeit very profane and violent, and dare I say it, a pretty decent acting role from Arnie himself playing, if not a straight-up bad guy, at least a sort of anti-hero and far more morally ambiguous character.

Training Day/End Of Watch folks did the writing/production/direction and you can see those films' DNA in there.

The ending is shit though, it didn't fit, having checked out IMDB the director had a semi-happy ending foisted on him, when he'd filmed two far darker endings. I'd be interested to see a director's cut rather than the theatrical cut.

Could probably have done with being a touch longer (which is not something I often say about a film), again, the studio wanted a shorter more 'action packed' film rather than what the director had in mind, according to IMDB.

All that said, a pretty solid watch, recommended - 7.5/10

You want to see some freaky ass doll. You should watch The Haunted House 2*.

* Okay, it's by the terrible Waynes brothers but the doll thing was pretty funny in a crass way.

PREDESTINATION is a really good low-budget sci-fi movie about time-travel and stuff (and with Ethan Hawke as a main character).

First half is mostly a conversation between two people in a bar (with lots of well-done flashback scenes), then the 2nd half is really interesting twisty-turny stuff you have to concentrate on !

Can't say I understood everything completely after one viewing, but I got the gist of it and really enjoyed it.

8/10.
