The Captain America fabfare is aceballs though.

The video raises a good point, but the choice of scenes from Iron Man and Thor are a little odd. I think you could probably level that same criticism against most blockbuster films if you cherry picked the scenes.

The themes that people were remembering at the start there were generally those used in opening credits, and in Star Wars it's only really the Imperial March that comes to my mind that isn't part of the main credits.

One of my favourite film scores is Jurassic Park, but there's plenty of this kind of "bland" music in Jurassic Park too. The "big" emotional scenes have memorable hooks, of course - the part where Alan Grant first sees the Brachiosaurus is a particular highlight, and most of the music has the same hook in it to some degree, but I just can't help thinking that the choice of scenes was a bit odd.

Yes, a small number of films have exceptionally memorable scores but most don't is really the only point to be made here.

I can't believe you've forgotten Black Sabbath. You know, the band with the song 'Iron Man'.

They didn't use Sabbath's version in Iron Man.

I remember it being in the end credits, and it's on the OST.

The Internet can't seem to decide if that's Sabbath's version or not.

I know Sabbath's version quite well and unless it's an incredibly faithful cover it's the original, I'm pretty sure.

The use of music in Guardians of the Galaxy is fantastic, and obviously the kind of thing they wanted when they hired James Gunn for. Not original score though.

For my money I think that now they are so well established, they could do with trying to make them more varied. Not all of them need to have action sequences shot in a similar way, not all of them need to have a big fight with a final boss at the end.

General thrust of the video is right. I didn't really know about the temp music thing, seems to me a reasonably sound idea in principle, but they should be using music other than stuff from recent blockbuster scores.

Quite. The soundtrack isn't the same thing as the score, other posters.

I thought the examples of Thor, Drive Angry, and Mad Max that contrasted the film score with the temp score were quite eyebrow-raising.

I highly recommend all of the Every Frame's A Painting videos, by the way. They are excellent.

Just watched Arq, which was added to Netflix today. Not a bad time-loop film along the lines of Edge of Tomorrow and Source Code. Not quite as good as either of those, but still enjoyable.

On the telly or on the big screen? I saw it at the cinema and it was visually stunning but whilst it had bears, muskets, and Leonardo diCaprio in severe physical agony, after about tow and half hours I just ceased to care and just enjoyed the photography.

It was on my telly and I can see where you're coming from there. It was a long film but I enjoyed it right to the end. Now you mention it, I'm sure the setting helped with my enjoyment and also helped with making me feel cold all night.

Also... Didn't Leo look cosy in that horse?

I knew exactly what he was doing before that scene started and I blame Star wars for that. My wife didn't have a clue.

It's a fantastic film - I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, but it made for a great thriller. And yes, he is.

Zootopia - Kid's film which is surprisingly endearing. Good voice cast helps the ot along where a rabbit cop teams up with a fox hustler to solve a tricky case. It is on Amazon.

Today I watched The Eichmann Show, about the televised trial of Adolf Eichmann which took place in Jerusslem and was televised worldwide, after he was accused of orchestrating the deaths of thousands of Jews in Nazi death camps.

The film was wonderful. Obviously very hard hitting and difficult subject matter, which I knew when I put it on, but I still wasn't prepared for some of the images in the historical footage of the death camps. I couldn't get my brain to decide whether to turn away or not, and I kind of forced myself to watch because I thought I should, but it's weighed heavily on me and I think I'd have shut my eyes had it lasted just one more second. So yes, do beware that that is there, but is perhaps 2 mins of the film, and you could turn your head. I cried silently at the footage. I'm glad I watched through it, just to have some 'tip of the iceberg' insight into the absolute atrocities of recent history and the madness of the human race. Maybe I shouldn't have watched it... I don't know... these things tend to sit heavily with me. I can't decide, yet.

There may be some bad accents, I can't tell as I watched it on mute whilst the little'un napped. I cuddled him tighter at some points.

I watched this last night. It didn't really grab me though, despite some good performances and a couple of good scenes (the traffic jam bit at the border, particularly). The no-holds-barred opening promised quite a bit, but by the end, it just felt like 'Man On Fire', but with lots of shots of people travelling somewhere.

Just finished Civil War. It was... OK. Didn't really have much to it, and felt a lot more like the fist half of a two part made for TV thing.

Watched Lucy last night (she should really close her curtains)

Not a terrible film if ignore all the flaky science guff, but after a decent first half, it seemed in a hurry to get to a conclusion.
