Jamie Lee Curtis' body is fan-bloody-tastic in Trading Places.

I'm sure I've seen it at some point before but I'll be damned if I can remember it.

But, boy, Jamie Lee Curtis? Stunning. Pert, even.

Oh, and have you seen JLC in Trading Places? Wow-wee-woo-waah. That's a woman. Natch.

Are you talking around the Jamie Lee Curtis used to be a man/is a haemaphrodite rumours that circulated in the 80s? I dint know much of her (but I used to get her mixed up with Annie Lennix as I think they had similar hair). Not sure if I've ever seen any of her films, though.

Watched Anaemic Sniper. Was a great film, though very difficult to watch. I thought the scenes in the weather were really well filmed to invoke the conditions.

Backing up through the thread to read other recommendations I've just read Slightly Green's post about Anerican Sniper. Without knowing the back story and history the film was really good. But yes, reading that puts things in a whole different light. I'm kind of glad I watched the film before reading it so that I could enjoy the 'story', but the belief in All American Heroes and the like sits thin with me anyway. I always have some kind of hurdle in celebrating death, rather the removal of evil, but I'm not sure a lot of people see the difference. Anyhooo, Slightly Green's post kind of grounds it into a more complex (so realistic) reality, but with no backstory, still s good film.

I can't say. The Internet weren't around in the 80's. And her wiki doesn't say anything about it, which as much research as I'm doing. :)

Tanga briefs. Cut high on the hip. Essence of 80s. Made no sense really as unless you had a waistband like Simon Cowell they'd show above the waist. I think they even made them for men, for all your sexy man pant needs.

Her hair does not look like Annie Lennox's hair there.

You'd have to find me a video of Annie Lennox's boobs if you want me to make further comparisons.

Watched Fox Catcher which was pretty good, Steve Carell does a very good job

Then watched St Vincent with Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy, average for a comedy but ok

I enjoyed John Wick too.
It was hyped as being "realistic", which it kinda was. Obviously the stamina and pain threshold of everyone was through the roof, but there was no wire work or anything like that in the martial arts, and the gunplay was less overblown. Nobody went flying off into the distance after being shot, the amount of bullets he shot matched the amount in the gun etc...

Yeah, the shooting was just nicely choreographed as to be enjoyable, and still let you know exactly what was going on in any given scene.

One interesting about American Sniper bloke is that in one part of his book, he states he punched out an ex-Navy Seal that he implied was Jesse Ventura. He then came out and stated it was Jesse Ventura. Then Jesse sued him/his estate into the ground, and is in the process of suing his publisher into the ground.

Watched Interstellar over the weekend, it's a bit of a mess of a film and uneven in its pace but it's a pretty compelling mess. Enjoyed it lots but it's no Contact. Also...

Poor Anne Hathaway...she's almost an afterthought until someone casually mentions "Yeah, we should probably do something about that, you know, with her in another galaxy thinking she's the only remaining human being"

Also watched Everly. It's got Selma Hayek strutting about in her undies and shooting / stabbing people...recommended.

Watched Black Dynamite (a blaxploitation spoof) and The Double over the weekend.

I'd heard good things about Black Dynamite and it wasn't awful or anything but only really made me laugh a couple of times.

The Double is Richard Ayoade's second film as director after Submarine and is equally as good. There's a really fucking weird atmosphere throughout the whole thing that's brilliantly done and even without the compelling premise of the story it would be a joy to watch. Bonus point for having Mia Wasikowska and Yasmin Paige in it as they're both lovely.

Just back from watching Ex Machina. A brilliant 10/10 film marred only slightly by one of the audience possibly dropping dead mid way through.

I'd seen almost nothing about it before the showing - just a poster and the tail end of the review on the BBC film review - so didn't have any particular expectations or knowledge.
It does score on the Craster Scale too

Ex Machina is indeed good. Tight performances all the way through, and it has an intensely claustrophobic feel to it all, especially at the end.

I saw Ex Machina yesterday and indeed wonderful film. Top notch stuff. Excellent effects but best of all the direction and acting are incredibly tense. Considering it's pretty much 3 people for the entire film it grips incredibly well.

Also saw The Gambler which I was decidedly antagonistic toward at the start due to being no fan of Wahlberg (who desperately acts his inept heart out in this and fails as usual to convince) and having trouble really dealing with the setup. But ultimately it was kind of fascinating to see a character with such a self destructive streak and after letting go of my prejudice I mildly enjoyed it.

I'm watching Ronin which I thought was a film with a Jean Reno in it and a French girl and some stand off at the end with the French swat. Turns out it's Jean Reno and Robert De Nero in France. With an Irish woman? I'm confused. What the hell was I thinking about. I'm confusing Jean Reno films. Still watching it though; goddamn, I'm sure I've seen this before. Must have.

Reading both plots on Wikipedia the film I thought I wanted to watch could have been either of them.

Mind you, Ronin's car chase sequence was most awesome. Loads of shit cars get banged up real good. They don't make them like that anymore.
