Ok, I can't say anything from the last nine years has made me excited about Star Wars, but that has.

I don't understand why, it's just a load of random imagery. I realise that's pretty much the point of a 'teaser' but how can you get excited about stuff that has no really meaning or content? And that's leaving aside the teeth-gratingly stupid 'gruff' voice over and the fan-wanky light sabre.

No sure about the hilt on the lightsaber, you'd have someone's eye out with that if you're not careful!

Most weren't clones after the clone wars anyway.

Also, could be a goodie in a trooper outfit, a la Han and Luke.

Anyone who isn't getting a massive SQUEEEE on over this is irretrievably broken.

First Born - "Han fixed the bit Lando broke, then?" Very nice touch.

I think Russ put Mimi off Star Wars with all of his obsessive Youtube review videos.

I've met many like you. It makes me sad. I think it's necessary to be exposed in early life when the awful dialogue and flimsy plot (and cheesy screen wipes) are invisible to tiny minds. All the youthful eyes see are XWINGS AND TIE FIGHTERS AND MILLENIUM FALCON AND LIGHTSABERS AND STORMTROOPERS AND many many cool things.

Grown up cynical eyes are cruel to Star Wars

I thought this was probably it. I watched it a year or so ago for the first time and it was just bad. The acting seemed really stunted from everyone but one guys who dies early on (Guinness). Everything looked like plastic and the script was poor at best.

If you are watching the original Star Wars for the first time, I highly recommend going for the Despecialized Edition, which you can find somewhere on the internet.

Yes me too

The little light saber things are stupid, though. Also pointless, because the point where the light saber meets the hilt would be where the cross guard is most useful, and thats just normal light saber hilt material.

Now if it had a big cortosis crossguard then...

Nah its fine, the radius of the opponents light saber means that it won't be able to touch the hilt. Not reeeeeealy an edged weapon is it?

Wow that bad?

Open Windows was pretty disappointing. I loved the director's previous movies, which were both an interesting premise with fantastic execution. Open Windows was an interesting premise but the film just didn't work. For the most part the entire film just a view of the protagonist's desktop, with windows showing views from various cameras. I didn't really feel much of a connection to any of the characters, it seems to spend the entire film explaining what's happening, but you never really get a sense of a coherent story. The way it is shot feels far more like an unsuccessful attempt at mitigating a small budget whilst still having a Hollywood actor in the lead role, rather than a stylistic choice. Not recommended.

Los Cronocrímenes and Extraterrestrial (2011) are both highly recommended though.

Topher Grace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topher_Grace) made a version of the prequels with all the shit taken out, all 3 films done in 85 minutes and apparently it was excellent, but he never released it.

Then it turns out he did 2 edits, and both of them are out there, and then someone found them and has recut the best part of both of them, and made a single movie from them...

I'm not really a Star Wars fanboy or anything. I just think they are pretty good movies.

But the original releases are definitely better, and I don't see why anyone would want to watch the worse versions of a film, other than curiosity to see the differences, which would also require having seen the originals anyway.

Edit: There is also The Phantom Edit of Episode One which seemed like an improvement but not by much to me.

I've downloaded that and am quite keen to see how it all works as one movie. Apparently Jake Lloyd has no remaining dialogue :)

I quite liked The Hunger Games, though it is a bit thin, action-wise. Going in with low expectations worked for me.

After, Kajaki. A true story of the British Army in Afghanistan; not sure it has to be seen on the big screen, and the warning 'graphic description of wounds' is spot on, but it is brilliantly done and stayed with me for some time afterwards.

Just watched the latest Kevin Smith film "TUSK".

Crikey, it's strange, and nothing like his earlier films (Clerks etc.).

Seems to nick ideas from horror film "The Human Centipede" and mix it up with a mixture of slapstick and black comedy.

Johnny Depp is in it (though I only realised it was him after he'd been on-screen for about 10 minutes - he has a ludicrous French accent and lots of facial hair).

Is it good ? Probably not. Is it interesting and worth watching once out of curiousity? Um..yes, I think....

Made me laugh at lot though.
