Who put FAD back on the shelf?

Why has she gone to get it?!

Long old corridors in that house.

Stupid hiding baby.

I fear I misjudged the nice black lady. She's got some big old balls.

Just fucking waiting to see the FAD in the background now oh there it is!

Clearly she's hot and needs some air.

Oh, just jump.

Everyone seems to have forgotten the missing baby.

Okay, didn't see that coming.

Oh, there's the baby. Err'one relax.

Ah, and a nice prayer to finish with.

Oh wait, epilogue!

"How are you now?"
"Much better, thank-you."
"Any more sign of the Devil?"
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

End!

That wasn't bad at all, actually. Freaky-ass doll was freaky, and didn't dance around or anything too much.

The bit in the lift was very clever, as was the girl running toward the door earlier in the film.

Worth a shot, horror fans! God knows there's not been much for us to watch recently.

Watched the 2013 Arnie film 'Sabotage' last night, it's on Netflix USA.

Good film in the main, albeit very profane and violent, and dare I say it, a pretty decent acting role from Arnie himself playing, if not a straight-up bad guy, at least a sort of anti-hero and far more morally ambiguous character.

Training Day/End Of Watch folks did the writing/production/direction and you can see those films' DNA in there.

The ending is shit though, it didn't fit, having checked out IMDB the director had a semi-happy ending foisted on him, when he'd filmed two far darker endings. I'd be interested to see a director's cut rather than the theatrical cut.

Could probably have done with being a touch longer (which is not something I often say about a film), again, the studio wanted a shorter more 'action packed' film rather than what the director had in mind, according to IMDB.

All that said, a pretty solid watch, recommended - 7.5/10

You want to see some freaky ass doll. You should watch The Haunted House 2*.

* Okay, it's by the terrible Waynes brothers but the doll thing was pretty funny in a crass way.

PREDESTINATION is a really good low-budget sci-fi movie about time-travel and stuff (and with Ethan Hawke as a main character).

First half is mostly a conversation between two people in a bar (with lots of well-done flashback scenes), then the 2nd half is really interesting twisty-turny stuff you have to concentrate on !

Can't say I understood everything completely after one viewing, but I got the gist of it and really enjoyed it.

8/10.

I thought the premise sounded familiar. It's based on Heinlein's short story, "All You Zombies", one of the best short stories of all time.

Watched 'SNOWPIERCER' on Netflix USA last night.

It's been massively well-received at Rotten Tomatoes so I was expecting good things, what I wasn't prepared for was just how bonkers and off-the-wall it is in places, and it was probably a good hour into the running time before it clicked for me.

Plot-wise it's simple and absurd, the entire world was frozen to death in an internationally co-ordinated but botched attempt to halt global warming, and the remains of humanity now circle the globe in a self-sustaining high speed train (and have been doing for 18 years), with the abused and underfed proles at the back and the the rich folks at the front.

The proles want in on what the rich folks have, we join the action as a revolt is about to start, and soon learn that there have been many others over the years that have failed.

It's directed by a Korean dude, based on a French graphic novel, which should give you some idea of the craziness levels of it all.

TBH the less you know about it going in, the better. (Certainly don't watch the trailer! I watched the trailer after I saw the film and was like 'DA SPOILERS!') It's a piece of piss to get to Netfix USA, so all I'd say is set a couple of hours aside for this film - it's quite a piece of work!

Oh yes and Tilda Swinton's performance, complete with seriously comical Janet Street Porter teeth, is worth the price of entry alone.

8/10 and 1 wibble/underpants on head/pencils up nose.

Also, I only skim-read your post as the line about knowing as little as possible caught my eye, so if your post contains important warnings such as: 'very graphic depiction of unicorn decapitation by seemingly gentle bunny rabbit turned death-machine' then I have skipped over this, so someone PM me and tell me not to watch it.

It got an 'R' in the States for 'for violence, language and drug content' but it hasn't been classified by the BBFC as it hasn't had a release in the UK, however I'd say it'd probably be a strong 15, but not an 18.

It is violent but it's all quite stylised, there's nothing too horrible in there, certainly nothing sadistic and torturey like Saw/Hostel/French horror style stuff.

I'd say the best way I can put it is to say Mrs Hearthly has a very low (non-existent) threshold for really nasty/torture violent scenes, she can't do Reservoir Dogs, for example. I'd have no problem recommending Snowpiercer to her and sitting down to watch it together.

I really enjoyed this although I called the ending at 1hr 23 mins. I am the great. I am the great. Yup, mere moments before the reveal cause I'm dead ace at viewing stuff with my eyeballs. I'm interesting in reading the short story now too...

Yeah I thought it was pretty good.

Although:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I don't buy for a second that you wouldn't recognise yourself after gender reassignment surgery.

I also don't think they should have revealed that he'd had a face/off operation at the start, it made aspects of the ending way more obvious.

The Hunger Games:Mockingjay Part 1

Really rather excellent. Didn't get bored once for its two hour running time and could have sat through another hour easy. The ending came as a surprise partly because of it being a halfway through a story thing, which is something decidedly not in its favour. But apart from that really good.

The Imitation Game

Pretty good stuff but knowing it was so full of made up stuff was a little bit of a problem. Great performance from Benedict Cumberbatch as ever and Keira is always lovely to watch. Didn't fully grab me so to speak though, felt longer than its running time.

I gave up about twenty minutes into the Hunger Games:Mockingjay Part 1 this morning.

I watched Edge of Tomorrow the other day - that was really good. Also, I watched the new Godzilla film, and it was okay. I'm a fan of Godzilla movies anyway, and while this one was still too human-focussed, it was no-where near as bad as the last one. At least it was monster vs monster.

I don't understand why, it's just a load of random imagery. I realise that's pretty much the point of a 'teaser' but how can you get excited about stuff that has no really meaning or content? And that's leaving aside the teeth-gratingly stupid 'gruff' voice over and the fan-wanky light sabre.

Most weren't clones after the clone wars anyway.

Also, could be a goodie in a trooper outfit, a la Han and Luke.

Anyone who isn't getting a massive SQUEEEE on over this is irretrievably broken.

I've met many like you. It makes me sad. I think it's necessary to be exposed in early life when the awful dialogue and flimsy plot (and cheesy screen wipes) are invisible to tiny minds. All the youthful eyes see are XWINGS AND TIE FIGHTERS AND MILLENIUM FALCON AND LIGHTSABERS AND STORMTROOPERS AND many many cool things.

Grown up cynical eyes are cruel to Star Wars
