All the new maps are live now, but, by god, some people are just experts on those maps already.

They've had eight years.

Got some crazy stats on one of them the first time it came into rotation.

Some damn fine maps.

Xmas Crash is funny, though I think it will get annoying!

I dont know if i've just been unlucky or if they have changed something about the rotation , but in the current 'summer party' playlist I've played a few rounds of

'Shipment'

And all I can say is WFT ?

Its a map that's too small to have 3 people on it and there are 12 or so - explosions everywhere and if you shoot or throw a grenade your likely to be kicked for team killing :-)

It's a fan favourite (next to MW2's Rust).

I played a game of hardcore Killhouse yesterday, which is a bit larger than Shipment, where absolutely everyone was using noobtubes and grenades. Out of the twelve people that started the match only 5 survived getting kicked!

The kill count was through the roof though.

The remake of rust in IW is quite good and i've had a few games with 50+kills on it - its one of those maps where there are camping spots / sniper areas and some good run'n'gun areas

Given the maps have been around since December I'm surprised i had not seen it before this week.

Oh and an annoying bit for the way they have handled map packs on this - last night when i was playing you were on a game on a 'normal' map that i had , with open slots - i tried to join - it got all the way through to the end and then said you were in a lobby with a map pack that i don't have.

(I do remember COD5 used to put you into a lobby and it would give you a few maps you could play and then you would get a DLC map and everyone would get kicked out - it looks like COD4 just splits it - if you have the map pack you go into one lobby - if you dont you go into another)

Rust with an AC-130 was magic. Unless you happened to be on the receiving end.

That's a bit pants about the lobby. You should have messaged me and I'd have backed out. Mind you, it's funny I've got the map pack and you haven't for a change! You suck at Dutying.

I'm pissed off about it because last year I bought the super duper everything in one pack and then its another $20 for this 'extra' map pack

No AC130 type scorestreak in IW / nothing even close (they really messed up the scorestreaks this year)

In all seriousness though, this is a remaster of an 11-year-old game and I doubt the OG PS4 will have any issues running it. Plus I don’t have to shell out any extra money.

As opposed to PC gaming, where it took me fifteen minutes to tune Civ VI's performance settings and then I kept getting my game interrupted by a persistent notification from Google Drive asking me if I wanted to delete from my drive the autosave file that Civ VI had just removed. Yeah, that's a top notch experience.

Drive is doing what I told it to, which is backup the contents of My Documents.

Really enjoying playing through this campaign again. None of the sequels are a patch on it.

The feel of it is just.... off. Hard to describe, but the controls feel like they're in treacle. Ill have another go tonight, but it wasn't as playable as I remembered.

And coming from 32 v 32 battlefield games the maps also feel a bit small.

Just played the prop mode. It is weird!!

Once you get the feel for it back, it’s still enjoyable. It doesn’t ‘feel’ as natural as current gen games, which have improved how you interact with the environment no end, but the actual shooting parts is ace fun. Especially on Hardcore mode when you only need to hit once or twice and so there’s no bullet sponge annoyance.

I played some and spawn camping was rife. I had a fair few matches where players dropped out as the helicopters, grenades, noob tubes and whatnot decimated the other team.

I can't quite believe that I completed this game in Veteran mode back in the day. That's not going to happen with the remaster.

Anyone else surprised, revisiting CoD4, by how quiet it is? Not all the time, obviously. Lots of explosions and men shouting, much of the time. But there are so many scenes with no background music, and just the sound of silenced weapons or men moving quickly through moonlit shrubs.

FPS games just sem to yell at you constantly these days, and CoD4 is almost refreshing in that regard. Which is a bit weird.

Tempted to buy a PS+ sub just to give it a whirl again.
