First Things first.

New Trailer.

Looks pretty exciting.

Here's the facts:

Wiki wrote:
Fez is a forthcoming platforming game developed by independent software developers Polytron. Fez won the "Excellence in Visual Art" award at the Independent Games Festival in 2008. The game was also nominated for the "Design Innovation" award.
Fez features 2D/3D perspective shifts in a manner similar to Super Paper Mario and Crush. The use of Escher-like optical illusions also predominates gameplay in a manner similar to Echochrome.

It looks like it is the kind of game I would like to play.

Dev's site here.

It hasnt been confirmed for xbla yet but there have been screenshots with a little green 'a' button in them which I think is at least a reason to be hopeful.

Wasn't it, though? Mind you the idea was a nifty one, but the execution was lacking. So we'll see.

Want this hard.

Please be good.
Please be on XBLA (where it will inevitably be 1200 - the dicks).
Actually please be on WiiWare so I get a decent dpad and point at screen 3D stuff.

V. V. V. Hopeful.

Yeah, I that's my only criticism, also I wish the map told you which door leads to which area as it's quite frustrating looking through 5 or 6 doors looking for the one you want. I've completed it once so far, it seemed I wasn't getting much further and thought I might get something if I went into the door which needs 32 cubes,

didn't expect it to end and make me start the game again.

Also it crashes a fair bit, it's happened about 4 times to me already.

Minor spoiler. You'll have seen it if you've got to the bit where you can start to change perspective. So 5 minutes into the game.

You know the MS DOS screen crash at the start, actually had a proper crash at that point.

Anybody know what to do with the large doors with the knobly stack of cubes on? I've found one in the sewer and another on the mine entrance/large waterfall node and can't figure them out.

Anyone know if it's possible to pick a fucking crate up? Seeing as I can't push it onto a button. It annoyed me so I left it behind, but it occurs to me that the little cunt is holding a crate aloft in the image in the OP of this thread.

What happens? I mean, not story-wise or whatever. Does it have New Game+? Do you lose everything and have to start over proper? Should we avoid finishing the game if we want to collect everything?

Played a chunk of this so far. It's lovely -- charming and witty and clever. I've found about 10 cubes and two anticubes so far, and three treasure maps I can't make head nor tail of.

I'm thoroughly lost though -- I'm just wandering from screen to screen without much in the way of plan. I assume that's normal? I'm trying not to read anything about the game.

Yep. Just enjoy the romp. If you want to go and track down everything else, that's what New Game+ is for. Don't let it stop you from ending your first run through early, it just gets more magical that way.

Post subject:  Re: Fez

Started playing this yesterday and put a good few hours into it (I've got about 17 cubes or so and a few anti-cubes). The core game is fun and charming; but I'm starting to feel completely overwhelmed by it to the point that it's sapping my interest a bit. Every door you go into opens up umpteen other doors which open up umpteen other ones etc, so I'm now feeling like I'm just completely losing track of what's going on as the map multiplies out in front of me. The fact that everything just feels like it's obtuse for the sake of it (the arrangement of the warp gates don't make any fucking sense at all, the map is odd, the secret levels with the movable blocks are completely inexplicable, the treasure maps don't mean anything and there are other random shit around the place that seem to almost revel in their utter lack of context) isn't helping matter much. I'm aware from reviews that it's supposed to be pretty meaningless at first and come together as you play, which is fine, but the sheer amount of randomness and the scope of it's getting on top of me a bit. It's probably not helping that I finished my session yesterday in the depths of the sewer type levels all of which are drably horrible to look at and centred round that really annoying game mechanic of raising/lowering water all over the place. So, yeah, can I expect it to start making some more sense soon? Or am I basically just too dim to enjoy it properly? :)

On the upside, I'm very amused by the QR codes puzzles; that's certainly a unique game mechanic.

Post subject:  Re: Fez

Got up to about 23 cubes and a couple of anti-cubes and now my fucking save game has corrupted so the Xbox just crashes when I try to load it up. I assume there's nothing I can do about that and I'm just screwed? I couldn't really face going back through the whole thing again so that'll be it done in a really disappointing way.
