Either we were much too tolerant of him because of how Stu ran his forum as a dictator, or he got worse. Probably both.

He definitely wasn't as much of a rampant MRA back then. He's been swallowing too many red pills recently, obviously.

I've always hated they guy, but that's just me. I'm honestly really surprised to find out that it could be so bad someone like Grim ends up leaving the forum to avoid him and he's still allowed to rampage around the place. Worse; he makes a huge deal about leaving and getting his account deleted and all sorts of other bollocks and then comes back again! Fuck that noise.

I used to think he was abrasive but wasn't totally without merit. His snack website was good. Then again I've changed a lot in that time so

I can't speak for this shit Grim...'s talking about (or Mali's Eve thing or whatever it was), I wasn't even around then (and Grim... doesn't strike me as a person who isn't very easy to get along with and all round nice dude, same as Mali), but as fiery and uncompromising as he is, I've always liked Gnomes.

I'm sorry, I know this won't go down too well etc., sorry about that, but yeah, he calls a spade a spade etc. but is pretty fair in my experience, and has interesting, articulate stuff to say. Plus, he's a pretty up front guy, which I like: he'll call you a cunt, certainly, but he'll do so to your face and doesn't really do "pile on" as far as I can see. I admire those qualities, IMO we could do with a bit more of them at times.

Anyways, just didn't feel very comfortable with some of the recent comments from certain quarters, when the guy's not around to defend himself. I can think of worse stuff than the stunts he's pulled (that I know about at least); like I say, at least the bloke was upfront about it.

See, I know you mean them to be compliments of a sort here, but when I hear someone described using terms like "fiery", "uncompromising" and "calls a spade a spade" it always sounds like the speaker is just listing euphemisms for 'arsehole'. That's just me though. :)

Let me preface this by saying I'm not upset or offended, but Bobby is right, that is just rude, really. And, no, it didn't go over my head.

I wouldn't usually bother to respond, but I think you should know because your feminist persona and reputation for standing against oppressors and in support of marginalised groups could be undermined if you said it to the wrong person. I'm not speaking as a feminist, just a woman, though I don't think that should make it less important of a voice. Also, I think you're enough of a person to listen, take on board and understand why I think it's a dangerous thing to say.

I don't think you'd take the same tactic with another marginalised group. If a person of another race asked a group what the EDL was, I don't think (or hope not, anyway) that you'd call back 'f*** off outta my country, n*****!' Or whatever impression you might call on.

If you think that's humourless, I'd ask myself where the humour was. It's not making a joke, doesn't make any intelligent observation, didn't add to the discussion. As you said, it was an 'impression' rather than a joke, and the intention may be to highlight how ridiculous someone would be to talk like that, but to do that you've used one of the targeted group (women, me) as nothing more than a prop to make your joke/point and managed to call me a slut, among other things, when I wouldn't want to be the subject of such a joke, point, etc, and I don't think it could be thought that I was volunteering for that role. In this case it would be 'rude' for you to use me in that way to make your point, in the course of your impression, because it's not nice to be called a slut in any context.

Anyway, again I'm not upset, so you don't need to worry about that, but I thought about it a long while yesterday and thought you'd appreciate the honesty, as I'd worry that it might one day land you in bother, and wasn't funny. *Hugs* X

You are 100% correct. Ironic sexism has the same effect as real sexism.

Actually, I think there is, your persona as a feminist and other -ist, as someone who is on the side of the marginalised is quite evident. In the context of this post, and the phrase "normal service is resumed" your are implying that the normal service of this forum for everyone other than you is that we are MRA and that we treat women in the manner that you have depicted. This is not only terribly wrong and insulting, it states clearly that you feel you are better than us as our views are not as vocal or absolutely aligned with yours. I have never called a woman a slut and never shouted "show us your tits" (in the manner you depict - personal sexual encounters are not the same thing) - your suggestion that that is a manner in which I behave because I don't vocalise my support for the marginalised in the same manner as you is downright rude.

Weird question, but it just occurred to me: is there a standard zero for times? Like, can you calculate time as a number of seconds since... I dunno, 1/1/1900 00:00 without having to worry about minutes, hours, months and the like? Is there such a thing? Would it be of any use? I haven't done any coding for over 8 years now and I reckon it's all gone rusty :)

Well time is usually measured as the amount of time elapsed since 01/01/1970 so I guess it would be that.

Although I did select convert(datetime,0) in SQL and it gave select 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000 whereas select convert(datetime,42416) gave 2016-02-18 00:00:00.000
