Man, Dudley was such a prick. Reading his posts while lurking I remember thinking he'd rather actually argue about arguing than just get on with posting stuff. I'm convinced that his ideal message board was one where every thread was just a paranoid analysis of the previous one ad infinitum.

I close the laptop down and come back later to shed loads of angry PMs including a death threat. Could I have stopped it? Yeah, probably,my reputarion as a Mighty Space Pirate with charm and being doggedly handsome had traction there, but zero to death threat means no backsies. You can't escalate from there, either, so a "someone done me wrong" flounce is quite, erm, comical. As is trying to orchestrate a popularity contest against me. And losing.





*Now, here's the punchine: I hadn't been playing EvE for a bit but had done for about 3 years or so. Amassing enough cash to buy me shiny when needed anyway. There was a "come back for 7 days for free offer" which meant I would be able to log in and pay whomsoever had done the deeds as per the agreement of "all my cash and assests". The thing is, thete was about 40 million isk at most. "Why so poor?" You ask. Well. One of MaliA's last acts many minths before was to read through the forums to find a battle where an alliance had been ambushed and lot a lot of stuff. The antepenultimate act was to find a pilot in the alliance that had list the stuff who had been in said group for around 4 months. The penultimate step was to send him a very reasonable sum of is. The final step was to contact the alliance leadership, tell them they have a mole selling info and they might want to audit starting with X. Alliance leaders are terribly paranoid about this sort of thing.

Oh, no. The spy thing was way before. Related only because that is where all the money went. No idea who the guy I sent the money to was. I just happened to find it funny at the time.

But your way round would have been far funnier.

Edit: Often, I found, that I didn't actually have to do anything to get cash from other players. A good scheme I did was to open an office in a system (cost c 1MM isk) so it looked like I was based there. I'd fly about a bit so people would notice the corporation was active. Then, I'd ask a corporation for a small amount per week to not attack them. Generally for 2MM a week they would pay, getting a good deal. I was too as I didn't have to risk blowing them up. Repeat for each corporation in the system and it was a nice total income. Until they all realised i was fleecing them all then I headed elsewhere.
