Final scores gentleman:

Zaphod - 201800
Joans - 192300
Devilman - 171650
Runcle - 106150
MYP - 64300
Chinny - 43500
Craster - 8500

Which means the league table looks like this:

League Table

1 - Zaphod - 20 points
2 - Joans - 6 points
2 - Devilman - 6 points
2 - Itia - 6 points
2 - Runcle - 6 points
6 - MYP - 1 point
7 - Doctor Glyndwr - 1 point

Your game this week is Commando C64 if someone could be kind enough to post the link. I really want to try and get a chance to play this one as I really like the Speccy version. Snake Rattle and Roll was good fun but sadly mind numbing illness*/work/an upcoming out of the blue house move/strong antibiotics/an eye infection and other mad stuff has been getting in the way in such a way I'm so glad to have survived the week I'm on my third Fentimans!

In other words, I'll try and keep the scores updated but if you need regular updates some kindly soul may need to keep on top of it.

* not all of it mental.

aw bollocks, I wanted to do this, but I too was ill, and missed most of this week. I did have about 10,000, but I still wouldn't have got any points. ( I couldn't work out how to get off the level)

I hope I have a better time with commando.

Link for commando online : http://www.jac64.com/games/play-5.html

Joystick port 2 - cursor keys to move right ctrl to fire and space for your grenades

I really enjoyed SNR and to get off the first level you just needed to eat a few of the balls that were floating around till you had a tail on the snake - jump on the scales to ring the bell then you go out the door.

I got a point! I never did have time to go back and have another go, though. I reckon I could've got at least to 100k.

15000 which is all I could manage before turning the game off. A terrible terrible version of the game. Awful out of tune music and dreadfully jerky movement. Give me the Speccy 128k version any day, or even the version I have on the 7800!

Well end of another week start of a new game - from Chinnys list this weeks game is Roller Coaster on the speccy.

WOS page is here :

Click the java icons if you want to play in your browser - controls are o = left p = right 9 = jump

Wikipedia page about the game here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roller_Coaster_(video_game)

Crash's 94% review here : http://www.worldofspectrum.org/showmag. ... 400032.jpg

And a score to get you started with 4100

Thanks to Zaphod for the link.

After the 4 entries last week the league table looks like this. Hopefully more people will play this week (what were you lot thinking when you voted for that shonky C64 version of Commando over the superior Speccy version?).

League Table

1 - Zaphod - 30 points
2 - Runcle - 12 points
3= - Joans - 6 points
3= - Devilman - 6 points
3= - Itia - 6 points
6 - Craster - 4 points
7 - Chinny - 2 points
8= - MYP - 1 point
8= - Doctor Glyndwr - 1 point

Knackers.. forgot to get round to playing Commando. Oh well, I'll have to make an effort with Roller Coaster instead - not that I was ever any good at it.

I'm quite enjoying Roller Coaster. Only ever briefly played it when it was an SU Covertape one month. It's not a bad game although it's an obvious Jet Set Willy/Manic Miner rip off!

If you get stuck there are 2 options i've found :

1) Jump left / right and you can sometimes free yourself
2) Walk left / right repeatedly and you often 'fall' slightly on each turn so you can fall out of the bottom of whatever your standing in.

WoS and WIki make mention of a CPC version, but I've never seen it. In fact on the Elite compilations of the day, the games was substituted with another game on the CPC versions. It's not on NVG either, hence I suspect it doesn't exist.

No idea why they didn't do a CPC version, but around the same time Elite ditched the CPC version of Kokotoni Wilf as it was so bad. In later years they released it on budget as "never previously released" which should have been a warning to me before I bought the steaming turd of a game. Perhaps Rollercoaster suffered the same fate?

Not on the Amstrad TOSEC set which i have so if it is out there somewhere its not been dumped

Had another few goes with this today but cant beat my previous score , i think one of the better strategies is going to the right , getting some of the easy bags from the log flume then going back around and down

Bugger. I downloaded a c64 emulator and Commando yesterday only to realise it was too late. I must try harder.

I never used to like this game and I don't now.
1300.

300 on my second go. Nice to see it features the Jet Set Willy-esque restart from where you entered the screen so you can watch yourself plummet uncontrollably to your death over and over. :)

2100 now. Getting there.

Judging from last time, the only thing that stopped people playing was if you had to actually download the game rather than play it online.

In other news, we're only a few weeks away from Navy Seals. You've all got your CPC emulators ready I take it for the biggest gaming test you're ever likely to receive. It's insanely hard, but very addictive IMO.

I'm not sure I can play this anymore. :'(

Edit - I lied and then got 3300, but I can't really be bothered to post another screenshot.

What route are you following ?

I keep getting high 3000's just now but cant top my previous score - i normally go right to the log flume , ride it and catch as many of the on rails moneybags as i can then jump to the rail at the end (so you go back to the start of the ride) then head left and down to the other rides

Has anyone tried just going flat out for one route ?

Getting everything on the first screen, then heading across the log flume (dying over and over again as I jump straight up instead of forwards). Then just carry on to the right after that.

4700. The Java emulation of this game seems pretty buggy - on some screens the character becomes very jittery and on one screen in the fun house I got stuck altogether. Works great in Spectaculator though.
