So i'm going to Vienna and Prague in 3 weeks. Any recommendations on places to visit and such?

I'm thinking about going to Dresden for 1 day. Bratislava is even closer, but for some reason Dresden seems more attractive to me.

Prague is beautiful. I recommend the Pražský hrad (Prague Castle) and the Petrin Tower (in effect a miniature replica of the Eiffel Tower).

We walked from the centre of the city up the hill towards the Petrin Tower, then descended along to the cathedral and castle. There's so much beauty in Prague you can hardly go wrong wherever you go.

Don't forget the Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square, either (on the hour!). It's not that exciting, but looks nice.

Me either, to be honest. I can only manage one every few years. I like my comfort zone.

I was in Vienna for a couple of days for a conference, and only managed to get one night out. From Stephenplatz tube station down to the old imperial palace is a nice walk, if you like oldy-worldy Hapsburgy buildings, but that's literally all I saw. We drank beer and ate some weird dumpling in the palace grounds, where there was a sort of open air market / pub Tasty.

Hey... Does Mrs. Craster like holidays? Because if she does, we can send her and Mrs Grim... off together to stop the whining about going on holiday.

Send Mrs. Grim... and Mrs. Craster off with me, I love delving into exotic new locations. Maybe I'll even get to go snorkelling!

I think you might find certain locations to be a bit... Spacious... :hat:

No, you have to join Me and Grim..., so we end up with 3 Fat Beardos and a Baby. Hilarious hijinx will ensue.

How can you not like holidays?

You could skip over to Prague for a Weekend CUS, don't need to take too much time off.

I'm sort of like that but mainly it's just because I'm never, ever bored. I have so much stuff that I want to do here that scooting off abroad never feels like a big priority.

Hmm. Weekend in Prague.
Ooo. Maybe convince someone else to go.
Hey. Perhaps folks off here.
Wait. Prague. Doesn't Romanista live...

I PROPOSE A BETEO/BEEX WEEKEND MEET IN AMSTERDAM.

Not for 'that'.

i'm almost sure Romanista lives in Utrecht, which is sort of Amsterdam-lite, without all the depravity. I liked the city.

CUS, if you like exotic locations and snorkeling i would recommend S.Tomé and Principe islands. A cliched paradise tropical island, but almost devoid of any tourism (and roads!).

Yeah, I think he was making lewd comments about my wife and Grim...'s, rather than being serious.

The worst is when you come up too fast. I always need a lie down after that.

RuySan, thank-you sincerely for the suggestion - I have never actually been snorkelling, but I would dearly love to some day, so ta.

I LOVE going on holiday - I like to get away from this crappy place, but the different experiences and people you meet too. Everything/body just seems so much more relaxed when you go away.

I had a dream I won a scuba diving holiday for two, but had no-one to go with so offered the other place up on here.

Heh, I think you had to pay the flight taxs Zardoz and pay for your own meals for 5 days, but against the cost of the holiday it was nothing(can you tell it was a real competition I entered?).

Blimey, even your dreams have terms and conditions.

My girlfriend recently told me that people from Dresden "have horrible-sounding accents".

That's enough trivia for one day. :)
