Sorry to link to the d**ly m*il.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ation.html

Quote:
Vital evidence which could solve the mystery of the death of Government weapons inspector Dr David Kelly will be kept under wraps for up to 70 years.

In a draconian – and highly unusual – order, Lord Hutton, the peer who chaired the controversial inquiry into the Dr Kelly scandal, has secretly barred the release of all medical records, including the results of the post mortem, and unpublished evidence.

The move, which will stoke fresh speculation about the true circumstances of Dr Kelly’s death, comes just days before Tony Blair appears before the Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq War.

Hmmm.

How does a peer get to randomly seal the results of a criminal investigation, on his own authority?

Well, there's only one reason to seal the port mortem, isn't there? If Kelly official committed suicide and the post mortem says otherwise.

When will they learn, it's easier just to buy off doctors than to seal the records.

Mmm, until I see it from a source that isn't some trash rag with an agenda, #i'mquite doubtful about the whole thing.

It's in the mirror as well according to news.google.

I also saw it in the metro this morning.

So no, no reputable sources yet.

But if this is true, then tin-foil hat be damned. Thats a cover up.

I'm trying to think why a suicide needs to be kept secret for 70 years that isn't 'because he was murdered'.

Hmm, what if it was because of some weird sexual thing or something? I still don't think they would cover it up for that would they?

This needs protesting, it's crazy if true.

3rd post rollacoster.

Just emailed my MP

Quote:
Dear Nick,

I write concerning this story in from the UKPA:
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpres ... 3pP24avumw

Considering the extremely important circumstances of this tragic death I find this highly unusual decision both troubling and unjust. The post mortem either supports suicide and so should be released to end speculation around the circumstances of his death, or brings evidence of other events occurring which is of great importance and public interest.

Considering the current Iraq inquiry I feel that these records should be released to reassure the public.

As my elected representative I request to know a) your stance on this issue and b) what steps you will take to pressure the Government and Lord Hutton to release this information.

Yours sincerely,
Dr X X

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but the idea that this guy committed suicide has always had bells on.

I seem to recall that his wife regarded it as suicide and was very much of the opinion that he had been driven to it by the way he was treated. Unless that's what they made her say. I think it's fucking shocking what happened to the poor guy but I don't think he was murdered by the state.

Blair would have sent blunkett round to garotte him in his sleep, I expect.

Someone should really email the daily mail to explain to them what 'draconian' means.

I didn't think he was killed for a second.

But now that they've hidden what happened for 70 years its impossible to reach any conclusion apart from this is a whole affair is dirty.

What I don't understand, and referred to at the top of the thread, is where the legal authority lies here. My understanding was that Lord Hutton was effectively the caretaker of this investigation, allowing the relevant experts to collate the necessary data and then presenting a summary of his findings. How does that extend to being able to seal the records of a criminal investigation?

Was the sealing order made while he was still a law lord, or more recent?

(As an aside, I'm pretty sure there's no cooler title in the world than Law Lord).

I'm assuming that as a Law Lord you get a big staff, covered in runes.

I'm sure that whomever holds that post is rather high up in the masonic hierarchy, so I expect they already have a rune covered staff.

Grauniadn with a more detailed summory of events. What I didn't realise was that he sealed it back in 2003. One person in the article suggests that the staffers who mentioned it was sealed weren't supposed too, suggesting that other stuff may also have been hidden.

It also reiterates that its unlikely Hutton has the power to have sealed it.
