I'd like to talk about starbars.

Man, aren't they great? I like star bars. Everyone should buy one.

I don't think I've had one. Briefly thought about trying one this lunchtime but plumped for a Raisen Yorkie instead.

I think I've bought one every day for about the last week or so. Not quite sure why, I'm just got that urge at the monent.

I think it's superior to other bars as its very flavoursome from just a small bite, whereas I generally have to take a big mouthful of other things to get the same effect. If I didn't think I'd be burning off the excess calories soon, I'd be worried for the expanding waist.

I had a star bar the other day. Will have again. They are like a Boost but I think they are less heavy.

Star Bars are known by the silly name of Wunderbar over here, but they're pretty much the same thing. They are indeed lovely.

Star bars are awesome. Half-way between a Marathon and a Boost is the place they sit.

No, Starbars are similar, but have peanuts in.

Ah, yes. They were briefly re-branded as Peanut Boost in the '80s, according to Wikipedia.

To substantial for my delicate pallete. I'd gladly sacrifice them to resurrect the Wispa Gold, or the largely forgotten, curiously-tastes-better-than-the-unadulterated-Dairy-Milk-it-is wonder that was the Spira (which these days would probably be "brand consolidated" as the Dairy Milk Pointlessly Whirly and Hollow).

Also: this thread is incomplete without comparative Star Bar/Boost crossection comparisons, and possible hot-knife fusion into a Stoost and a Barbar.

I had to do some research to answer this question. First, I had a look at how many calories my GPS device reckons I burned on a recent 20 mile run: 2820. This gives a basis of 141 calories burned per mile. Expanding that to 26.2 miles gives a theoretical burn of 3694.

Given that there are 285 calories in each bar, one London Marathon is approximately equilvalent to 13 starbars.

A reason to take up running if ever you wanted one.

Oh yes, the Spira was awesome. They could call it the 'dairy milk fun straw' as drinking milk through it was indeed rather pleasant.

Scampi n' Lemon disappeared for a few years, to be replaced by the incredibly bland and rubbish "cream cheese" flavour, or whatever the hell it was called. BUT, it's now BACK and many multipacks of Rib n', Nice n', Scampi n' have been joyfully consumed in the last year or so.

I haven't seen any Wispas around recently.

I haven't had a Boost in years, my chocolate intake now seems to be dictated by the work's canteen vending machine.

Do they still do the coconut ones anywhere, or in another incarnation?

Nik naks did an absolutely splendid pickled onion when I was in my teens. Now that's gone too. I still enjoy dunking scampi and lemon ones into raspberry slush puppies.

PICKLED ONION NIK NAKS ARE BACK

I have been eating them frequently for the last few months. However, I've not seen any in a bit, saying that. Er, you may have actually missed their return, mate. :'(

My local late shop has an offer on with various bars being 3 for £1, including Star Bars according to the little sign. Pointless really as they don't seem to sell them from what I could see.

If you like the contrast of flavours, you should try eating chocolate gateux with pringles.

Well there were only original left when we did it, but sour cream and onion sounds like it would do the job too!

I remember sneakily eating a packet of Scampi and Lemon Nik Naks out of my pocket in a German lesson, when the teacher asked the immortal question 'Kanst du smellen de fisch?' to the class.

Mmm. Which is why I love making sandwiches with chocolate spread, peanut butter and salt & vinegar crisps. The contrast is wonderful. Such a tang, if you get it right, and crunchy too.

That sounds awesome. I've often thought that chocolate-covered salt & vinegar crisps would be lovely.

Starbars are excellent. I might have one today, even though I have a box of 60 Curly Wurlys to get through due to being over-excited in the Cadbury World shop.
