Horrors, I've been doing stuff on here. Does this sort of thing look OK for everyone? I am particularly concerned with the categorisation of stuff, as seen in the horizontal menu across the top. I imagine the "Not-games" category will grow some extra bits. I will also finish the BurtTank article.

I have abandoned all hope of ever getting the user database sycing with the forum. You will have to register separately on the site (boo-urns, I know). If the mods and sub-eds from here would like to register on the site, I will give them appropriate permissions.

Basically the workflow I envisage will be any registered user can submit stuff, but it won't go live right away; a sub-ed or mod will have to go push a "publish" button. That's to stop spam, perhaps apply some redrafting etc -- same as the sub-eds were doing in the reviews forum here. However, I suggest we do not continue to write content for the site in the forum, then have a sub-ed transfer it; it's just a fiddly and unecessary extra step.

Everyone OK with that?

That's really cool!

I like the smooth way the topics roll down-e.g: Games-reviews, articles etc

Nice!

I take no credit. I think they are a part of the theme, but in any event, Goddess Jasmine and Devilman did the theme stuff.

It's too thin, IMO. Needs to be 920px wide to make better use of 1024x768.

It's a code monkey's job to change the width, you spazmo :P No colouring-in involved. If you need a hand with 'owt let me know, although I'll need access to the site FTP to make changes.

Nah, with it being Joomla-based, you can edit the template and CSS in the admin back-end of the site. I've widened the overall template a bit (as you can tell as Zardoz's graphic doesn't fit now), but I can't find the setting needed to make the content fill the extra space - example

More admin logins can be added manually but it's not really for me to say who should be admin as it's not my site.

If the swish menu is going to be a problem, maybe we'll need another template possibly?

User self-registration is currently turned off. Want it back on?

I think we'd need Joomla 1.5 for that. I recently upgraded my own site to it and it's looking like the way to go with support for Joomla 1.0.15 stopping soonish. I can't say it's been plain sailing for me though - I'm still getting odd 404 and 406 errors, but then I'm trying to faff around with SEF URLs.

Eh? Course it's not - width is controlled by CSS.

Trust me when I say it's ridiculously hard to find anything that works.

Also: Do you think the forum needs a link in the menu bar?

CSS comes under "code monkey" IMO, I wouldn't expect a designer working with Photoshop or what-have-you to know how to edit CSS.

Pshaw. If the filename ends in PNG, JPG, CSS, JS or HTML I don't want to know about it. Bring me your SQL, PHP, CS, JAVA and (in a pinch, with reluctance) ASP.

An ellipsis should always be three dots. Two makes you look lazy and more makes you look like a mentalist.

Right, fixed that, and rejigged the menus again. Adding the register link means the search box no longer lines up with the horizontal blue menu bar though, which doesn't look as nice.

Well yes, but too many people use whole lines of dots to signify the same thing.................. it's pointless and makes them look like a mong.
