I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain. Time to meet Shin.

Yeah, just gathering some thoughts and then I'll set up a thread. March Manchester Meet has a nice ring to it.

You're less scary Plitz as I have at least spoken to you on the phone, however the prospect of being in actual proximity of Shin is.... well. I'm scared :)

On another note, I hate Christmas shopping.

Hydrogen Cyanide, the chemical oft called Cyanide in popular mediums, has a boiling point of 26 degrees, and so is usually a highly volatile liquid rather than a gas at room temperature. (Let's ignore the fact it'd be quite hard to get your hands on HCN in the first place for Ms Christies books. We certainly only used KCN in labs)

Been thinking about March time America trip today. I'll be buying a plane ticket this month or next. Apparently we'll be going to Virginia City for four days, which has a population of 1,500 and is in the gold hills of Nevada, right near Lake Tahoe. There was a gold rush there, and it boomed and busted and became practically a ghost town. There's touristy gambling, civil war re-enactments and a hillside cemetary called 'Boot Hill'. I want so go so bad and hunt for Lee Van Cleef lookalikes. :D

I've just looked at their calendar of events. On 1 January they're holding 'Virginia City's Sesquicentennial Beard Contest'. That just sounds ace.

It means you're probably not wrong. Depends on what the temperature of the room is. Anything around 26ish and you could have a bubbling clear liquid. In the same way that if it was about 100 water would be a bubbling clear liquid.

From Wikipedia (like the Delphi Oracle, but with more 'Star Trek')

Quote:
In the 1950s, two Virginia City neighbors got into a dispute.[5] When one of the men built a new house, the other bought the lot next to it and built a house less than twelve inches (305 mm) from his neighbor's house in spite to deprive the neighbor of both view and breeze. The Virginia City Spite House still is standing and occupied.

Remember my horrible experience with O2 and Carphone Warehouse? Well, after a colleague mentioned today how he is the victim of credit card fraud, I decided I'd check my statements for anything spurious.

And sure enough, a direct debit for just over £26 to Carphone Warehouse, being paid quarterly. HSBC duly cancelled this for me when I said I didn't know what it was, and advised me to contact Carphone directly.

It was the fucking insurance policy for my old O2 phone. Despite the fact I severed all ties with them in July, they forgot/figured I'd still want the insurance policy.

The nice chap on the other end of the phone said this should have been mentioned at the time, and said that things were made tricky by the fact I'd transferred my number. Luckily, though, there was a record of my leaving in July, and he was able to authorize a refund of the unused cover (£53 altogether)

Which is nice.

I came into the office today, and had to unlock the place which isn't that unusual. But it's now half nine and nobody else has turned up. I know one chap's got the morning off, but that still leaves two people who should be here who aren't. I'm slightly weirded out right now.

Shit, man, a virus got out of an animal lab, causing people to attack each other. The news says, "Don't leave the house, bar the doors and windows and wait for assisstance". Man, be careful.

I came into the office today, and had to unlock the place which isn't that unusual. But it's now half nine and nobody else has turned up. I know one chap's got the morning off, but that still leaves two people who should be here who aren't. I'm slightly weirded out right now.

Haven't you ehard the news?

Shit, man, a virus got out of an animal lab, causing people to attack each other. The news says, "Don't leave the house, bar the doors and windows and wait for assisstance". Man, be careful.

I did dream last night that terrorists announced that their next bombing target would be my village in Kent, so I did wonder. (Then it turned out the terrorist was trying to sell his bomb to Samuel L. Jackson, who was his real dad, or something. I forget.)

I dreamt the other night that Mimi was the leader of some secret organisation that I was an agent for, and she phoned me up and told me to take MrsA out to dinner at an address and it was important. So I went there and it was an Ex girlfriend's (The divorced one) parent's house (where I spent a christmas a couple of years ago), and she was there in her dressing gown with her older sister and it was all uncomfortable, and then my cellphone rang and it was Mimi laughing at me and as i looked down the trapdoor beneath me opened and the next thing I was on my bedroom floor with the alarm clock buzzing.

it wasn't a great dream, and now i'm scared of Mimi. And the phone.
