Coincidentally, I'm possibly getting a phonecall at some point this evening about a potential new job.

In other news, my cat just ate some leftover vegetable vindaloo curry on naan bread.

Weird, I don't remember ever noticing that in the 360 version. I've certainly won longer races by (quite literally) miles.

Is the guide to Bath that was on WoS still around?

I'd ask there, but i've lost my login credentials.

Also, the Dark Knight. Crikey.

I'm about 70% through and only just noticed it. Both were in races which were long straights - first is a Chevy only one on the West Coast. I'm in third and the Z06 (stock) is rated at 197mph but the speedo says I'm doing 205. I blast into first place, round a corner and I'm going dead straight but at a max of 192.

Second is "Ring of Speed", I think. Similar situation, when in third position, the Ford GT is doing 199 but once I get a lead I'm topping out at 182.

I think 'were' is right, but so many people use 'was' that it tends to look wrong.

It's one of the few things Americans get right.

Of course, Americans are largely more "right" than us, technically, as they're using the older version of British English that they took over the Atlantic with them.

Hmm... "Oh, I wish I was a punkrocker with flowers in my hair......"

I always though 'were' was a group thing: "We were in London, but have now returned"
Whereas 'was' is singular: "I was in London, but now I've returned"

It hurts my ears when dumb fucks say "I were over there"

Remember my dead Netgear router?

After much fiddling, prodding with recovery tools, puTTy and mashing of the factory default button, it suddenly sprang into life. One reflash of the firmware later and it is sitting on my desk looking at me and innocently whistling.

The odd thing is that all my ADSL settings, admin passwords and all that were recovered as well.

In the spirit of Amiga geekery, I've renamed it LAZARUS.

Gagh. Didn't get it. :(

It went to Cassie instead, which is fair play, she's been here a bit longer than me and has immersed herself in advancement for sometime. She's also one of our more competent staff members who's filled in to do bits of supervisory before in this library. Plus I sorta assumed she was a scale 3 at least anyways, and was surprised to find out she was 2/4. The important thing is that it went to someone who deserves it.

kill her now

ANYWAY.

If I want one I'll get a feedback interview on Wednesday. I'll mull that over. I think I know where I went wrong and am a bit more confident for next time. Apparently there wasn't too much in it between us. Every cloud has a silver lining however, and I am now in music for the day listening to Howie Gelb. Nice. :)

Hmm, maybe I should be plotting.

Then again, I've been in council offices where bitter back-biting and fingerpointing over promotions has destroyed any pleasure and goodwill left in the building.

And gagh, again by saying 'immersed in advancement' I make her sound like a careerist, which is sort of a contradiction in terms when it comes to libraries, as there is no career path. So she's okay, she just really wanted a promotion and did extra stuff for it. Those I tend to dislike are people who've been around for ages and feel they deserve one just because of how many years they've spent there, even when they're unutterably useless or abrasive. They get no smiles from this Pete.

So yeah. Grrr. But there's always next time, eh? ("Wrong," - Council budget ed.)

Yeah, wrong terminology. Definitely very naughty in a game like TDU.
