Is one of my favorite films. I remember going to the cinema when it came out, with a young lady (who, in fact, seems to have gone to the extraordinary length of getting married to someone to get over me) and laughing and laughing and laughing.

I think it's a beautifully scripted, and nicely choreographed story, with enough tugs of the heartstrings to make it work. And I can say "been there, been there, been there" a lot.

But then, I like Weddings and a Funeral as well.

I also heartily enjoyed The Full Monty last night. I haven't watch it in probably 5 years or more and I forgot how good it was. Subtle in jokes abound also. Robert Carlyle (mostly recogisned from his guest spot on Cracker at the time) saying "I have serial killer written all over my face". Funny the things you spot with an older eye.

I have now decided that I hate watching films with adverts in them and will, from this day forward record all things aI want to watch and skip the adverts. Media Center FTW!

edit: I hated Four Weddings though. Maybe I should give it another go, but I can't stand Andy MacDowell's massive, immobile face. It's unnerving

Not watched it in a long time, but yes, it is a very good film. Really tugs on the heartstrings.

Yeah, a great film indeed. The reveal after fixing the engine has me in stitches.

Four Weddings is pretty good, especially if you've been to a lot of weddings. There is a lot to hate about it as well as like about it and it succeeds despite Andie McDowell completely ruining every single scene she is in. I mean, it is common knowledge she can't act (cf Hudson Hawk) but in 4WAAF she really can't act.

I love the Full Monty-my favourite bits are:

(In spoilers just in case some person who lives in a cave hasn't watched it)

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
When they have the gnomes and are like moving them by the window and then smash them, cracks me and my mum up every time!

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The bit where (I can't remember their names!) the big guy is in the shed and wraps himself in clingfilm to lose weight...then eats a snickers!* LOL

It's a pissing Mars Bar-thankyousomuch DavPaz...you git :p

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
When they are in the line waiting for the Post Office? And they are doing the dance-best parts when they go 'HOT LOVE' and they thrust their hips and that guy turns round and looks at them :DD

Ahhhh, haven't watched it in ages but my memory is pretty good :)

I don't care really.

I doubt I will ever see it, and even if I did, I doubt I would mind about it being "spoiled"

it's ok malc, her memory is spotty anyway. It's actually a grim near future horror film where aging old soldiers are forced to strip to obtain vital supplies in front of baying room of muated harpies. Very unpleasent

I've never seen The Full Monty. Don't really intend to. I much prefer films that are less about real life stuff.

I always read anything in spoiler tags anyway as by the time I get round to seeing the film/playing the game that's being discussed, my useless memory has replaced it with something even more trivial.

It's better than that other version which was about a grumpy, overweight Scottish golfer.

actually, if you replace 'soldiers' with 'steelworkers' (and spell 'mutated' properly) it's not far from the real film!

And then there was a film he was in (gods can I remember it? Probably gonna be pulled up now by pazzy-face because I said I have a 'good memory' :p bar steward, heh) and he was in a taxi with Morgan Freeman I think? I wish I could remember the film as it was great! I'm sure he was Freemans cabby or something?

If you're getting your black actors confused, it's 51st State.

Ah! Or it could have been (ohfuckwhatshisname) he had a black moustache in a film and looks quite mean...oh....shit! I can't bloody remember!! He's in action films or crime I think-

Sod it...I'll try and think about it, I don't think it was Morgan Freeman now come to think of it

EDIT: That's the one! Thanks Grim... that would have driven me mad today! I loved that film :)

You thinking of the dreadful 51st State?

It's Samuel L. Jackson not Gordon Freeman.*

Saw 51st state before moving to Liverpool. After becoming familiar with the local georgraphy, the film makes very little sense. They're all over the city from one camera cut to the next and then suddenly in a street in Dingle (which is officially the silliest name for a district ever)
