Burnout Paradise really is quite a bargain really when you consider all the extras you get for free. It's very good of them.

It's excellent - especially for an EA Studio

I'm not that good at the game either but it's still in my collection nearly 5 months after release

It's a great business model. If you look at the price of Burnout Paradise compared to other similarly 'big' titles released at the same time, the rrp for Burnout Paradise is much higher.

This is because:
A) It has a long tail. All these updates and stuff keep it on the kotaku front page, and in the discussions and thoughts of a lot of communities/press.
B) People are less likely to trade it in. I you know a bunch of great free content is going to be given away in the future, you are more likely to keep hold of a game, and so it becomes devalued much slower.

Far better than trying to get used games outlawed...

These cars aren't free mind, like the rest of the DLC was.

It's in there interest to keep players playing because it keeps the ad revenue high. Obama et al lining their pockets and so on.

Also, the BTTF car is fucking awesome. But looking at if objectively, they've basically stolen some IP slightly changed the name and look until it's legally different enough to stop them being sued, then been real careful to not mention the actual car's name knowing that the blogs will do that for them. It's even worse that they are specifically selling that and only that too.

I'm still pro this, and I'm all for lenient IP use and reuse. But I'll be remembering them doing this if EA sues some kid for recreating their properties in another medium for profit.

Still it makes the game very tempting...

And not the only bit of IP-dodging, I'll bet. I'd put money on the Cavalry Bootlegger being a General Lee clone, and the GT Nighthawk being a knock-off of KITT. So you'll probably get your other wish too.
