I can't be bothered to read all the game threads that popped up while I was stuffing my face with pumpkin pie and Bitch Creek beer and I am also worried about OH NO SPOILARS!!!!, so could you please let me know which one of the following games I should buy.

Fable 2
Fallout 3
Far Cry 2
Saints Row 2
Something else that came out that I haven't mentioned

For reference, I loved Fable and Saints Row, liked Far Cry a lot until a helicopter battle I got stuck on and didn't much like the original Fallouts, but loved Morrowind and Oblivion.

Thank you.

Get them all.

I haven't got any of them, so don't ask me.

Out of those, I got Dead Space (narrowly chosen over Far Cry 2 on the grounds I could complete it quickly and trade it in) and Fallout 3. Dead Space is nerve-jangling excellent survival horror in space. Fallout 3 is utterly, entrancingly wonderful and if you liked Oblivion you are very likely to get on well with it.

F3 is my pick of the bunch.

Interestingly (or not), I took my DS and PSP with me, fully intending to get stuck into some games and play them lots.

Didn't turn either of them on. Instead, hung out with people, read books made of paper and watched the light changing over the mountains. Didn't miss games at all.

Yet, the moment I got home, I set the 360 to download demos I missed and started wondering about which new games I should buy.

Mirror's Edge demo was lovely. Got stuck on the Tomb Raider one, but I'm putting that down to lack of sleep.

That's good to hear. I was worried about it.

I'm thinking of getting Fable 2 first, finishing it quickly (I assume it's pretty short, given the length of the first one), then trading it in for Fallout, which I'm assuming I'll want to keep forever.

Saints Row 2 and Far Cry 2 can probably wait until they're cheap post-Christmas.

I'm contemplating getting Mirrors Edge for the PC. Should I?

Why not for the 360?

Well, that's the plan now Happyforest has confirmed Fallout's goodness.

Intrigued by Dead Space, though. Wasn't on my radar at all.
