Perhaps there's an obscure setting I'm missing, but...

How about a 'stealth' version of the forum, for those of us who browse in work? If the massive colour bar (which is used by nobody except Shin and AceAce Babiiiiiiiiiiiii) and Dimlies box were gone, it would be a lot more inconspicuous and look almost like a lot of the other browser-based systems I use.

Or is this a massive impossiblity?

I don't want a boss key, I want the forum to look less conspicuous.

This is a work PC, I can't go installing new stuff on it, it won't let me. Hell, the only way I'm able to change the wallpaper is by rightclicking on something to choose 'set as wallpaper', everything else is locked out.

Why not use the quick reply at the bottom to avoid the colour bar? I'm assuming you've turned Z's banner off... you could even turn off avatars and sigs.

Switch off image loading. That's what I do anyway.
The colour bars are still there but you can move them off the edge of the screen or use quick reply..

I have images turned off and the banner turned off.

The dimlies only show when you're replying, so just write quicker.

Shouldn't you be busy routing trains around closed-due-to-dead-bodies track segments? That sounds like much more fun anyway.

Tell you what, start VNC and we'll have a go at working the trains and you can keep us entertained here. Deal?

Yeah, something like that would be good, but I'd like the full version at home! So some way that could auto detect where I am from would be cool! or just do it url based!

I did consider if that was NSFW but frankly I've seen worse walking around towns of an afternoon (shudders at memory of the Mankini incident in Cornwall)

Did you just Google "naked bloke with laptop on nads"? Or, more worryingly, did you have that picture in your .. ahem.. archive?

Because it has large blocks of contiguious colours, prime for being RLE? At least it looks that way. I can't tell if that grey is a gradient or not.
