I'm going for a 22'', and i was almost buying a Samsung 2253bw, but i was able to hold my enthusiasm. The reviews are very good generally but there seems to be some complains about backlight bleeding, and buzzing noises when reducing contrast. Any opinions?

Be careful that you get a UK model. Some companies like Ebuyer are selling USA models of various monitor brands without telling anyone and Samsung get shitty when doing warranty claims. They will (grumpily) do a repair but straight swaps are out of the question so you are without a monitor for a few days.

Why would you be talking to Samsung at all, that's Ebuyer's job.

The warranty is with Samsung. I guess you could go through Ebuyer but you are only substituting one bunch of hateful cretins for another.

As I found out earlier this month, Samsung UK are an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Not at all. From Bits & Bobs

Quote:
For the past 3 months or so I've had no end of trouble with returning goods and dealing with stupid call centers trying to change suppliers for many things. Last week I decided to contact Samsung about a small mark that was noticable on my 32" LCD tv, it looked like a smudge when the screen displayed flat areas of mid blues or greys (ie LOTS when on my 360). I decided to contact them about the problem to see if there was something they could do.

Gobsmackingly then sent someone TO MY HOUSE to look at the problem TODAY ( I called on Sunday evening at 7pm) and I'm getting a new panel fitted next week. AWESOME.

Compare that to the 5 weeks it has taken to get a pair of cosmetically damaged speakers replaced through PCworld online.

Your contract is always with the retailer, especially if they've been selling grey imports.

Fair enough but just don't buy any of their awful lying shitty printer that break in 3 months if you put paper even a fraction over 80gsm in them. Oh and they don't tell you this either but voided my warranty anyway.

So I smashed the printer. Over and over again. Then I purchased a Xerox for about the same money but is a zillion times better. All praise to Xerox who know how to make printers.

Why would I buy a printer when I have access to them at work? :hat:

I imagine that the departments that deal with TVs/Monitors/Rubber Fists/Printers are all completely different. So er don't buy printers kids, buy tellies!
