Hello!
Someone here at Grim...corp does all the scheduling with Excel. MS Project would be good, but are there any good freeware ones that people use?

I know they exist, but there's so many of them all I haven't got time to try them all.

The "buy" button on their website puts me off a little, though.

If they do it in Excel, can they use OpenOffice (calc, or whatever the spreadsheet program is)?

I think they already have a licence for Excel. I presume they just want to use something that is designed for doing what they need, not a spreadsheet...

I have recently come up against this same question and also decided there were too many to try. I ended up resorting to theft which I am sure a man of your fine standing wouldn't consider.

(I always found Asta PowerProject to be a better tool as MSP can sometimes be a twat to get to print to an A3 sheet (my paper format of choice!) showing the duration in a format I require. But that costs money too.)

Edit - I have just realised that this post from me is of no use to you whatsoever. I suck!

Obviously, I'd be happy to nab a copy if I wanted to schedule time in charge of the TV remote. Not so much at the office, though.

Hang on, isn't Bluce Lee a project manager? Speak up, man.

I use GannttProject for my current job. It's open-source. Simplistic but works entirely for me. Give it a spin.

GannetProject? Do you use that to plan how many pies you're going to eat each day?

We use OpenProj here which is MS Project compatible. Not tried it myself but it does look a bit unwieldy.
