Yeah, I thought it was a bit poor. It didn't make much sense, the ending was nonsense, but I think it was used as a way introduce missy as a different character and increase the potential of that role. If that is the case I will let it off, if not I think it was very poor.

New spinoff series, 'Class', to be set in Coal Hill School and will be on BBC3.

More importantly, the entire thing is being written by Patrick Ness, who is one of the best writers in the world.

So that's good.

Proper Doctor Who. AT LAST! I do hope it doesn't let us down. Thus far I'd say we've had two 8s and a 4 in this series. Not a bad start considering last series started with a 5 went to a 6 then dropped to 2.

What is the point of a cliff hanger if at the end of the credits they have a "and next week..." section?

I always have to remember to switch over or stop the recording when the credits start to avoid that. Not as bad as the first cliff-hanger in the Ecclestone series where the trailer was placed before the credits.

Quote:
For years, since Doctor Who‘s return in 2005, we’ve been wondering about just how terrible The Last Great Time War actually was. We know it wiped out both the Daleks and the Time Lords, but the Doctor would say precious little else besides that. We caught a glimpse of the last days of it in “The End of Time“, and found out things weren’t exactly what we thought they were (in a great way!) with the 50th Anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor“, in which we found out the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) tried to be a conscientious objector but was forced to fully join the fray by becoming the War Doctor (John Hurt). We expected that’s all we’d see of the Time War and that version of the Doctor, but Big Finish Productions have announced a new series of War Doctor audio adventures to continue to saga.

The company, which has been making full cast audio dramas of Doctor Who characters since the late ’90s, has recently obtained the rights to things created in the new series. Previously, they have only been able to make dramas about past adventures starring the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Doctors, with Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor being added a few years ago. They’ve already announced a new series of UNIT adventures starring Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and Osgood (Ingrid Oliver) and one called The Diary of River Song featuring Alex Kingston.

This four-release set of War Doctor adventures will debut in December and will take us inside his eons-long battle to defeat the Daleks and still be a good man, which eventually led to him using The Moment. To whet your appetite, Big Finish is also releasing a prequel series in November featuring the Eighth Doctor’s time during the Time War.

For people interested in more War Doctor and more Time War, this seems like the best possible way for this to happen, since a whole TV series about it seems unlikely, and was never really seemed plausible in the first place. You can find out more information at Big Finish’s website.

I also do this. Infuriatingly, The Walking Dead once put a "next time on TWD" bit over the credits (they put a little box up) so I switched it off, then they put another bit that referred to the current episode after the credits.

Post subject:  Re: Doctor Who

I haven't seen this week's episode yet.

The previous two parter for me:

Part One - Was okay I suppose. The majority of it was a bit meh, though yer man continues to be an excellent Doctor. The last ten minutes or so were good, though marred slightly by my lack of recollection as to that episode Capaldi was in before. I'm glad they referenced it though, especially as they had in the first episode of his.

Part Two - Much more like it. I thought Maisie Williams was quite poor in the first part, but then in the second she came alive, and it showed that her performance in the first was intentional. She was acting like a child and then subsequently as an adult. It worked really well for me. I also like her as a recurring character along the lines of River Song, but less annoying :)

Some of the parts of the episode were a bit meh, again, but I thought the main two characters carried it well.

This week was mostly boring, though it picked up in the last ten minutes or so.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
So many stupid decisions.

The Doctor leaves Clara a zillion messages, so she just ignores them. It's not like he would have something important to say.

The UNIT leader wanders off to ToC on her own? And then trusts the first person she meets, when everyone has been killed by shapeshifters? I'm really hoping that the reason we didn't see her die/get captured is because she knew all along and actually lured the Zygon into a trap, and now she's playing them at her own game. She's been shown as being competent before now, so hopefully she's not just slowly wandered into a trap for no reason.

Why did The Doctor use the plane? Did they just want more use out of the set they built? Or is there an actual reason, because him thinking it is cooler is a bit stupid when they're under severe time pressure and he has a fucking TARDIS just sitting there. There'd better be some reason attached, and also some reason why the PRESIDENT OF EARTH's plane doesn't have some countermeasures against RPGs.

The UNIT... ummmm... unit that got killed. That was stupid. I get the emotional ties to a parent or loved one, but he ascertained she was a fucking Zygon and then they all just wandered to certain death anyway. Not one of them thought, "Hang on, they've got the exact right loved ones for each of us [note - I assume that's who the other were, if not then an unrelated person could surely just tap the bastards in the head; these are special fucking forces!], and they know nothing about us at all, and any question, even simple ones, they have failed to answer. Maybe we should discuss this further outside?"

And why was the commanding officer conveniently miles away from every single one of her men?

It somehow managed to make the end of the world boring.

It did pick up towards the end though, as Evil Clara is deliciously evil, and some of it is a good idea just executed poorly (and without the necessary budget).

I appreciated the analogies to Islam/refugees etc, though I thought they plastered it on a bit heavy for the slow folk at the back.

Hopefully the second half will redeem it.

It was appalling, even for unit soldiers, you'd think one of them got off a shot. They should employ some Americans.

Also, the drone thing was silly, because how would the Zygon know who was flying a drone a hundred miles away, also the UAV we see being loaded with weapons is a plane, planes don't hover.
